Request for DEV/ GM clarification: is chat channel linking an exploit?

So it's been known for years that you can link to private, NON password-protected convos using a URL link and a channel id in the IG notepad.

So my question is, if you do this to connect to a private convo you were not invited to, is this considered an exploit?

I would like to hear only from a DEV (or GM, if they're on the forums), please; there's been plenty of community speculation already.

So you could enter a conversation with a person without him/her accepting it? Or just get into an existing private conversation between two others?

You are only able to join an existing chat. The IDs of the chatrooms aren't tied to characters at all; they're sequential, which is what allows you to 'guess'/generate the links to the chats. You don't know who may (or may not- a lot of them are empty) be in a chat, you just join and say, "Hi!'.

I submitted a ticket about that a while back. Without getting into details, it's recommended not to do this and there may be consequences for doing it. While it's not a declared exploit yet, it's obviously not the way things are intended to work so it could well be treated as an exploit.
