Hello. I was just hoping some of you can chime in regarding your opinions for T2 hybrid ammo for battleships. I've never used them once in the past couple years as they both seem utterly inferior to Gallente Navy Antimatter L. Javelin gives wayyyyy too much of a range nerf for a tiny, tiny increase in damage and a tracking bonus that seems to do absolutely nothing (since you still won't hit anything that gets that close to you anyways, unless we're talking bigger targets, which Navy Antimatter will hit without problems anyways)

Spike, on the other hand, seems to give up more than half your damage for wayyyyy too much of a range increase that I've never needed. Ever.

I understand I'm a filthy PVE scrub so I know nothing, but does anyone here even use it for PVP? I was hoping if anyone here uses it for PVP, they can tell me before I start crying on reddit for T2 Hybrid makeovers.

EDIT!: Sorry, I meant specifically T2 Large Railgun ammo. I'm well aware of the many uses of Blaster ammo. Thank you!

Large rail have a very small space in PvP, blasters however are a very different story.

Thanks. I forgot to clarify that I'm only talking about Railgun ammo. I know blaster ammo is in a good place ^^

For blaters, Null is a must carry item in cargo like barrages are for Autocannons and Scorches are for the Pulses.

For rails, I do carry Javelin at all times. Javelin+web can hit cruisers in web range for tracking bonused hybrid hulls.

Having said that though, for pve you mention I think rails are a bit meh. I used to use Spike+sensor booster for missions like World Collide first warp in point where targets start lole 100km+ away, but with MJD you are never forced to shoot from 100km away unless that is your chosen engagement range. Kronos with MJD/MWD with Bastion bonuses make Blasters with Null totally viable for all missions, I totally stopped flying Rail Kronos for missions since Marauder changes. If I was going to fly rail fit ships for missions though, I'd still carry Javelins. No they won't hit frigs and spider drones, but you can hit cruisers. I haven't tested Stasis Grappler with rails yet, but that may be viable too. (I use heavy stasis grappler on BS for wormhole sites, and there they work pretty decent, but then again I'm not flying rail fits in WH)

There was once a use case for spike L when the probing mechanics were a little different than they are today. You used to be able to only probe to ~200km, I think, but never to 0km.

Then people in null had those big battles with 150 vs 150 at 180km distance and were flying Megathrons with railguns and Apocalypses with tachyons.

You may find videos of the earlier days of New Eden on youtube with them. Sadly ever since you can probe to 0km you won't find many fights or are able to create those sniper fleets anymore.

At medium ship size that is a different story since you can kite with long range guns and the good pvpers are making good use of them.

Anyhow I think that large railguns are meh also.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Personally the biggest advantage of t2 as opposed to faction is the price.

That said, it's been a very, very long time since I've used large hybrids. For pve, drones and missiles just outshine them too much to make it worthwhile. I think it's more of an issue with hybrids than it is with t2 ammo though.
