Dearest players

The EVE Flight Academy video tutorials we have been assembling over the past year, can now be accessed in-game from the F12 help menu. These videos have so far been placed into our youtube EVE Flight Academy channel as soon as they were being made. We are happy to see them now in-game for your benefit. The videos come with English, French, Russian and German subtitles that are automatically selected in accordance with the language you have set in the client.

We are still creating tutorial content and will add to the library as the videos are produced. The video player is now in it‘s most basic form and we will build on it to improve it‘s function and usability.

We are now seeking your feedback and suggestions on how to improve the feature and what content you would like to see there.

Finally. I've said it ever since i started playing the game, that tutorial videos would be a great way to educate new players.

However, it's a shame that these are live action clips with normal people / developers. It breaks the immersion and i hope that, should these videos prove beneficial, they get remade at a better stranded/aesthetic. The new sov mechanic video was a great example of how these things should be done.

Ps. for that extra level of immersion, we should be able to view these videos on the screen in the captains quarters.

Are these videos stored in cache or is there code to stream? Is there a way to let us watch whatever we want with the video player?

These videos are streamed from our servers. You will not be able to view "outside" content through the player.

This is great.

Now please have it remember which videos you've already viewed and have them appear a different colour so it's easier to work through them one by one.

Please put a black box behind the subtitle text, it often ends up unreadable after it's put on top of other white text (such as one part of the harvesting guide where it's going straight over the EVE logo on the t shirt, or when it's opened on top of things like the market window etc).

Also, cannot seem to scroll through the video which is ever so slightly maddening as I already wanted to skip back and re-watch part I didn't catch first time.

An excellent tool for the new players.

I have one suggestion: redo the mining flight academy video because no one, and I mean no one, solo flies a covetor for mining and in such a gank-tastic fit. Procurer would be a better lead in for the new player picking up mining.

Cloaking is the closest thing to a "Pause Game" button one can get while in space.

Support better localization for the Japanese Community.

Now if we can do the same thing for in game missions. :) Why read them? Make some cool in game amine and or have players voices read the short story to each missions would be awesome.

These videos are great and they are playable in game.. Why on earth did you not put them on the captains quarters screens.... the very first thing new players see...

Youtube already has a function to show videos viewed as already watched...

It would be nice to update the list of the videos that are sequential and in what sequence they are.
It can be hard to find from the list, if they are not listed or mentioned by name but are only referred to as "other video".

Also, I saw there was Closed Captioning which makes understanding the content easier, however,
there are no transcript or , text of those closed caption to refer to, as a sidebar to the video yet.

It can be hard to understand complex concepts over 1 or 2 minutes without written reference or manual.

I downloaded the EVElopedia manual zip file, however, it was hard to locate and , even though I did decompress it, I still didn't find it decompressed and didn't read it.

Edit:
From the image posted it seems that the videos are accessible from the F12 Help menu.

The next step should really be to do as implied above.. Put the videos in a category by itself.. Make a semi youtube browasable interface with the videos categories and thumbnail.

Then make sure to get ALL CCP video material available from ingame, with a nice little "filter" to toggle IC and OOC for the layout.. So in one you get tutorials and o7 show etc, and in the [IC] You only get scope and teasers ..

I would also suggest eventually marking any Youtubed ccp videos that can be viewed/found in client clearly on the youtube channel, maybe with a simple watermark in the "thumbnail"/sample image..
