what this game needs is a drone carrier with the ability to process minerals store blue prints and manufacture drones rigs and modules. that would be epic!

the solo players wet dream.

or what do you guys say ?

Why?

Who would use this anywhere, ever?

Why would you want to sit in space for hours manufacturing ammo instead of just bringing a hoarder or a blockade runner or something, or just packing enough in the first place?

Medium citadels are going to be what, 700mil? Why would you spend 2-10 times that on a much more vulnerable ship that does the same things, but worse?

Currently a small pos to do all this costs what, 3-400mil?

Have relatively week weaponry but better tank than a titan

Large smb that players can dock in (about the size of 10BBs)

No jump drive give it a mass big enough to move through c3s and higher and alter holes to c2s so they can't fit there

Now that is what I would call a mothership

This is h what the game needs to make nomad life not only possible but exciting

a cap might be overkill but it definatly needs to be a shipm, a Battle ship size perhaps made for nomadic life a structure lika a pos or citadel is way to stational an having in industrial ship you things would need alts and stuff .. i and those intrested in a ship like this is not really into the game of Alts ;)

Because without the jump drive it can be balanced better woth weapons and maybe limited rr. If it has a jump drive out runs the risk of being used as a combat vessel with that much tank.

Reason I say no c2s is these could be used to siege systems and the wh classes are use to help groups hold systems that they would be to small to otherwise

Nothing But if we want it to have enough tank to risk living out of and be cheap enough for small groups to afford then it can't be easily brought to fights otherwise you will just see large fleets of them. To be honest even with that they may need to have no combat power or you will get large numbers of them put into one place.


Hmm unless they are given a lock down mode that makes them invulnerable but unable to fight however out side of this they have the tank of a carrier.

Edit but even then that has issues

Why, who will fly this, ever, when you can already do it all better with things that exist and don't require you to sit in space for literally hours on end?

Or do you want a manufacturing line that continues while you are logged off?


How is this a 'true mothership capital' if it's a battleship with some bad manufacturing lines?

Production times for t1 ammo runs from 3.5 - 13.5 minutes per run, based on size. Each run produces 100 units of ammo. So, to produce enough ammo to supply a small fleet, figure 2k ammo for ten ships (20k units) will take around 12 hours for small ammo, and up to 45 hours for capital ammo.

Production times for t2 ammo runs from 54.5 minutes - 2 hours, 43 minutes per run, based on size (currently no t2 capital ammo, and don't feel like logging onto sisi to get numbers for those). Each run produces 5k units of ammo. So, to produce enough ammo to supply a small fleet, figure 2k ammo for ten ships (20k units) will take around 4 hours for small ammo, and up to 11 hours for large ammo.

Now, with those times in mind, seriously ask yourself, who would ever sit in a vulnerable capital ship undocked in space for that length of time when you can easily haul in a small POS and crank out the same thing in a much safer situation. Granted, I'm using the Rorqual as an example of what this industry module would do to the ship, i.e. make it stationary for the duration of the cycle, but it doesn't seem a stretch to assume that CCP would make this so.

Edit: A small POS can handle half a dozen ammo assembly arrays easily, allowing multiple production lines to make ammo faster. It can be hauled in a couple properly fit blockade runners, a single DST, or even a single t1 industrial. Most importantly, it only costs a couple hundred million isk for something that can crank out ammo quickly, yet won't explode the first time a hostile pilot looks at it funny.

A mobile Citadel for the nomadic corp (even if it's a one-player corp). In principle, a splendid idea.

Not sure of the balancing issues, but it would certainly add another interesting game-play option, so CCP might give it a thought or two.

!00% Agree this game needs a true nomadic ship capable of nomadic gameplay to counter civilized space Citadels and space stations. A mobile mothership could become a forward camp for war, a platform for prolonged piracy of trade routes, wormhole lifestyle, and guerilla tactics of unlimited imagination.

The reason behind the great wall of China was to protect against Nomadic tribes which would open so many more doors to conflict in this game, namely resources.

Why? Why not, it's a space game sandbox not a space station game. Let us push beyond the mindsets that space is flat and you fall off the map if you go too far.

This would actually not be a bad idea for repurposing the rorqual, which is due for some changes anyways. A nomadic, industry-capable home that consumes fuel to become anchored like a POS?
