How do I prevent capacitor drain? question about ECM

Hello. I'm in need of help for a better understanding about capacitor drain modules and energy vampires.

The other day I lost a Deimos on a T4 level mission against some 5 Blood Raider BS with this kind of module and many more cruisers and frigates. The mission involved warping near to a cargo hold and get some "Quafe" then turn back to station with it. As it happens with this kind of missions, enemy does not appear until the moment you take the cargo to your ship, so I did this and waited till the enemy warped so I could get the reward and salvage their recks after. This was my first encounter with a ship that drained my capacitor, so I didn't understand what was happening until I noticed I wasn't able to attack, nor to use my MWD to escape or to repair my armor. I kept on clicking somewhere far from those ships but it was already late; I was too close from that swarm and died in a matter of a minute or two.

Now my question is: What countermeasures can I take on my ship, on any ship to prevent or to minimize the possibility of getting my capacitor drained? I know the best option would be staying far away from this ship, but I mean in case I don't have a choice. What module or skill can I use? Does the sensor strenght really influences the possibility for other ships to "block" my systems?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Capacitor Boosters. And you should still be able to warp off with no cap if you are not being warp disrupted. You won't get far, but you should leave the present pocket a few thousand kilometres at least.

In missions with Cap draining, whatever is doing it should be your first target every time. In your overview, there will be a smybol from the NPC that is doing it to you.

I'll start with the last question first.

No, sensor strength has nothing to do with Neuting/Nosing effects.
However, it will help against ECM-type warfare which has radically different effects (see: it make you lose all target locks and prevents you from targeting anything for up to 30 seconds).

Which regard to skills and modules;

- there are no skills that prevent Neuting/Nos effects. Your capacitor skills (ones that affect max capacity and recharge rate) will help you maintain your capacitor power for longer.
Then there are a plethora of other skills that increase the "efficiency" of your modules and weapons (see: skills that make your stuff use less power).
However, there is no skill that directly stops or counters Neuting/Nos effects.

- As the posters above have said; use Cap Boosters. They will give you "injections" of capacitor power (the amount they give is based on their name, so it is pretty simple to grasp).
However, this is a "short term" measure and you should immediately focus your efforts on killing the ships that are draining your power.

- Capacitor Batteries are also another option. Not only do they boost your max capacitor amount but they also have a chance to "reflect" whatever Neutralizer/Nosferatu effect being directed at you.
I would not recommend this one though as "chance based" effects are not terribly effective against large numbers of hostiles that have all directed their attention on you.

- Range is generally the most accepted and preferred option (as you have already figured)

Pro-tip: Understand that not all ships are good against every tactic with only minimal refitting. In your case, Neuting/Nosing effects are pretty much the "hard counter" to a capacitor-hungry ship like the Deimos. Your best options are to...
- refit your weapons to employ more range
- use a ship that can better handle Neuting/Nosing effects
- be smart and...
------------ try picking part the enemy apart around the edges and working your way down
------------ take a huge risk, bum rush the most threatening ships, and nuke them as quickly as possible

I recommend the range option.

Cap batteries are no longer chance base me but have a fixed neut defence percentage with no reflection this is in many ways more useful for pve than before.

Interestingly the neut defence is the same for the various battery sizes varying only by meta level.

Also consider dropping the microwarpdrive for an afterburner for that mission it affects your overall cap.

Cap booster still advisable.

Two small tech 2 batteries an AB and a medium cap booster should fit and provide plenty of cap.

You should do that mission in a shuttle. Grab the quafe and immediately warp out.

Gonna have to put that Quafe on your lap with all the cargo space in a shuttle
