So I have been watching some youtube videos about how to gank freights and that sort of stuff.....now, I FAILED big time on my first attempt, I have seen many ganks at jita and dodixie.....wanted to do something like that but failed miserably, what I did wrong? I have no idea....I followed step by step in how to do so....yes I know im a noob...but after seen how much isk you can steal from their wrecks....that's something I decided to do...but....just found out I suck at it.....

any advice? how to gank a freight and kill it before you get killed by concord?

What was your date of birth?

Did I see April 15, 2016?

That is why.

Start sentences with a capitalized word?

Other that that, ease up on your ambition. It's a noble thing to want to destroy one of these majestic and expensive beasts, but you might be better off starting small and working your way up to it. As well, you are not going to hit the first time. Just keep trying.

Come back and ask again after you've failed twenty or so times in a row and maybe we'll have a legitimate critique for you.

Yes, to see a failed gank is great, taking part in anti-ganks op and making a gank fail is even better, Bear

don't believe what gankers say , we are saving more and more and running gankers from the field or stopping them flying, which is saving people from ganks. As you know we don't get a kill mail to show off when we save a ship , just the pilots thanks.

To op i would take the offer from some ganker here, to show you the ropes, they make it look easy but it takes skill to pull off .

Contrary to what the carebears would have you believe ganking is actually quite hard.

It's not, really. Just like with everything in the game, need a certain level of knowledge and experience to pull it off. But once you have that, it's not that difficult.

It's pretty much about the alpha and follow up dps on a given target. If you can't do it in 10 seconds, you need friends, perhaps a lot of them.

You either need weaker targets or a stronger ship, and as a newbie, you likely don't have the skills needed to fit the weapons systems required to make a fast kill.

I can tell you, my kills against NPC's have gone from several minutes of fighting to instant 'alpha' kills. It's taken months of learning and training myself to fight somewhat reasonably to make it happen.

I'd suggest joining a corp that does this and learn the ropes directly from them. You can read and watch YouTube all you want, but in the end, it's keyboard time that actually works.

Not sure what your o really point is referring to, if it's fail ganks, they happen so much more these days, anyway you should be used to failing from what I read,

Ask Lukas Kell, he is a experienced ganker and makes ganking sound easy and cheap. I am sure he can tell you how to make insane ISK without effort and no friends in no-time.

Take into account that ganking freighters got slightly harder a few patches ago.
If the videos are advertising say 10 taloses for a charon (i don't know the actual figure) Now it will be probably 33% higher because all ships have a native 33% hull resist now.

I do not advocate ganking but i do believe information should be freely distributed so here you have that.
If you fail keep adding taloses/catalysts until you reach the right amount ceteris paribus. (or tell the pilots to actually get gunnery skills and 3% damage implants (40m for 6% more dps is worth it if you aren't ******** and lose your pods.)

It may not just be 33% more dps. For example, my freighter alt uses reinforced bulkheads when space is not the issue (90% of the time, the other 10% is when hauling low value ore or frigate hulls). This boost is to the hull HP directly, as is one of her implants. This translates into a larger bonus when factoring the new boost to hull resistance.

This is pure gold. But at least you don't pretend to do highsec a favour or know about PvP. Honest piracy at it's finest: you're in it for the money. I can respect that.

Now, as to the answer ... try to look at it from the hauler's perspective. Get a firm grasp on what they're flying / how it's fitted (and why) which all boils down to EHP and align times.

Once you've done that, you'll clearly see the 544 ways you could be royally screwed as a hauler. Now, pick one of those ways and perform it. Bonus points for passive targeting arrays and a ship scanner, so that you know what your target is hauling. More bonus points for pulling it off as ISK efficient as possibly -- meaning you can probably do away with fancy stuff like T2 guns, spare ammo, meta 4 modules, some rigs and tank. Don't need any of those.

Also, before embarking ... make sure you read up on killrights, sec status and how to repair it. You may find some "hidden costs" to the whole ganking thing. It's not something you want to do on a character you really want.
