Can't sell an item that I can see has a buy order

I've only been playing for a few days, now I've run into a problem at the markets.

I have a fairly valuable item I'd like to sell. I went to Jita to find a good buy order and I found several for the item I had. The problem is, once I moved the item from my ship to my station item hanger, I couldn't sell it. The buy order is right there at the station where I'm trying to sell the item, but when I right click my item it doesn't have a sell option. I actually have multiple items with this problem. Why can't I sell them?

perhaps you need to Repackage them first? Right click on the item -> Repackage. If it won't allow you to do that, then you may need to repair it first.

Isn't the margin trading scam similar to this? When I read this initially I thought that might have been the problem.

margin trading scam you get the notification that the sell order failed. This was just oops didn't repair/repackage dealio.

He said it "Doesnt have the sell option" as in the drop down menu did not indicate that he could sell it. Even with the margin trading scam, the sell option still exists, it just fails.

Also look at the minimum quantity field on the buy order. It's rare, but some people want more than one item at a time.
