Is there an existing formula that people have figured out for this already? I didn't find anything comprehensive from Google.

I'm not sure you will find anything. You can always drop a jet can and orbit to see where you stand, although your target will most likely be moving and alter those numbers a bit, but it will give you a baseline for comparison.
