Fit an ECM burst to keep the aggro on you ond off of your drones.
And if you can't tank the site, you are doing something wrong. I tried the kiting 100mn VNI myself and it works.
I guess, because you set your orbit around a jetcan and not the center of the site (like the hollow asteroid), your transversal velocity drops 2 times every circle around the can (moving directly towards and away from the NPCs) and this is where you get hit.
If you orbit around the center, your transversal never drops and you should be fine.

You can make more than 2 mil in 2 hours using a hauler and civ guns. Seriously, you either have 0 SPs in drones or have no idea how to play. Watch some videos, learn how to deploy drones, and profit. A VNI can easily run 6/10 plexes and earn 30-50mil per hour in decent Angel space.

Yea this is very old mechanic, ccp changed npc AI meaning drones will always get attacked first, i have the same problem, i can't use drone ships because AI switches to drones in less than 10 seconds hence i am not using drones in missions or anomalies anymore.

As i said it before, "drones are not allowed in npc environment" nor are they allowed in missions because you simply loose them all super fast.

I hope ccp can change NPC AI back so npc's don't attack drones, but they do attack other players.
If ccp does that i can finally use my dominix and rattlesnake again in missions/plexes/anomalies.

As of now, heavy drones and medium drones are really useless in missions, because they're slow and if you send drones 58km away to shoot npc they will die no matter what you do.

Light drones are kinda ok atm because they're fast and they can speed tank npc's and you get them back fast because of speed, but still if you don't look out for your small drones they will also die very very fast.




Why can't he use heavy drones if he chooses to ?

do it the right way, there's a reason why people use specific fits, and usually it doesn't result in them crying on the forums about not knowing how to PvE with one over the better PvE boats.

there actualy seems to be some kind of stealth change. usualy when gatecamping, the rats always would aggro the griffin remote sensor boosting me. today the rats would aggro my sabre buddy the whole day and leave my griffin alone.

seems like rats are shooting now the targets they can hit best. in your case the BS ships attacked the BS sized drones instead of your cruiser.

Boys.. Stop. You can easily use heavy drones for AFK ratting. Go look up the 1000's of ratter loss mails on zkill for details.

Angel Hub is not a ded complex.. Drones on auto aggro, deploy, don't touch keyboard, should work.
Rat aggro seems a bit buggy, there are ways to "manage the bug" thou.
Gila seems to work better since only elite frigates will target the drones, and 500% hp medium drones tank a couple such spawns no problem.

As for plexes... i tried to use an ishtar for a 10/10, tank was fantastic but drone aggro was a real pain in the exhaust port, spent probably more time managing drones than killing npc's.
