So recently I left Pandemic Horde inc. and discovered that I'm not really a fan of FW I kind of like the solo (or smaller group) fights, so, I was wondering what other people thought of solo pvp and what fits and ships they use for it. I currently am using Destroyers (thrasher and Coercer) and sometimes a Arbi or even a Stabber occasionally.

Fw is very fun solo. You don't need a FW Corp. just join up, undock, go to a plex and either a pirate or opposing fw player will come to kill you. I feel that finding targets is easy with my fw toon. If you're a fighter and not a stabbed farmer, the pirates in the area will notice and solo fight numbers increase. I only fly away in my std issue Executioner when I'm outnumbered or it's the ubiquitous Comet zKB stat padder coming in. Also, it is fun to fly into small plex and try to beat a destroyer.

In any event, lots of targets and action. The LP and plex farming just wasn't a focus for me. It was more about finding fights quickly. I'm really lazy when it comes to roaming around for fights. I'd rather they come to me. Fw is good for that.

Solo PvP is plentiful is Eve online, just don't expect to get fair fights.

Expect to die, expect to get blobbed, jammed, expect the recon/booster

I'll try to be helpful. I'm more of a skimirsher/kitter, so here are my tips. Gangs are the most fun to fight against, but you want to engage them on your term. Very few pilots will take a fair fight, but many pilots will put their ships into dangerous situations because they have friends backing them up.

You mention that you fly the stabber. Very few inty/frig pilot will engage you in a stabber in a 1V1 fight. But if they have 5 friends, they might try to get a tackle on you so their friends can kill you. You have to learn to create those situations.

Your first job as a solo pilot is to learn to survive.

As crazy as it sounds, find a gate camp, jump into it, and learn to escape it with your ship intact. You will gain experience every time.

At first, burn back to the gate, and jump back the way you came. In terms of commands, select the gate on overview, click approach/jump, and engage your MWD. Most of the times, you will make it back if your ship is fast enough.

Someone might (and probably will) follow you and block your retreat. Congratulation, you have learned how to separate a gang using a gate. At first, try to escape, or if you feel brave enough, try to kill whoever is trying to block your retreat. Or return to the gate, and jump again. With experience, you will survive more and more.

Once you are comfortable with burning back to the gate, you can burn away from the gate. You'll need a ship that goes as fast as most of the ships in the enemy gang. Again, jump into the gate camp, assess the hostiles, and decide if you should return to the gate, or burn away from the gate.

With experience, you will learn what your best options are. Take the time, use your cloak timer before you decide. If you think you are faster then the enemy ships, double-click in space away from hostile/gate and engage MWD, overheat is best. When you are safely away from hostiles, warp out. You now have a second way to survive a gate camp.

A combination of both methods works well for most gate camps. If some ships are faster than you, just try to get them to aggress you on one side of the gate, and then jump. Game mechanics will prevent them from following you for 60 seconds. Then you can burn away from the gate on the other side. You will die often at first, you will learn, and when you have more experience you will make better choices and survive more.

After learning how to survive a gate camp, you will be free to travel in low-sec and null-sec. There must be a guide somewhere, that can explain it better than me. For me, that was the first step in becoming a solo pilot. The freedom to travel anywhere without a scout or intel channel.

Once you can survive hostile attempts at killing you, try to spend more time with them.

After burning away from hostiles, don't warp out, try to stay on grid with them. You can have 5-10-20 hostiles on your overview, but if they can't catch you, they can't kill you. You can manually pilot around the gate, and avoid all the hostiles. Don't let the enemy get a scram or a web on you. Retain your mobility at all cost. Mobility is survival.

Practice staying around the gate with hostiles on grid. Learn to read your overview to see who's following you. Learn to look into space zoomed out, or zoomed in to see who's close to you and who's far. Rotate the view to see where all the ships are located. Try to make sense of the battle field.

At first, spend 30 seconds on-grid and then warp out. After increase the amount of time you stay on-grid before warping away. Eventually, you'll notice pilots who will aggressively pursue you and those that get separated from their gangs.

After learning how to survive, and learning how to asses the situation, you can start thinking about killing ships.

You have to apply do damage on the enemy to kill a ship. You can do it at long range, mid-range, short range. People call it brawling, kitting, skirmish, sniping. It is hard to recommend a weapon type and a ship type. There are so many options.

I recommend going cheap at first. A tech1 frigate will kill an interceptor very quickly if you brawl it with close range dps. Put a MWD, and a scram on a tech 1 frigate and go hunt some interceptors who are tackling for a gang. Commonly found at null-sec entry point.

Most interceptors pilots that are in a gang, will not be afraid to tackle a tech 1 frigate. The hostile pilot might try to engage you and put his ship in a dangerous situation. Once you have a scram on the interceptor pilot, it will probably die. Just make sure you do enough dps.

Your job as a solo pilot is to create and recognize those situations. I won't give you ship types or weapon types. I think most ships in Eve have a role. Just choose one that can survive hostile situations. And then make sure it can kill your target quickly. Your job as a solo pilot will be to create a situation where a hostile will want to engage you, in a situation that is favorable for YOU. It will happen, trust me.

At first, don't expect to survive, just focus on killing 1 frigate. Consider that a win. Everyone is happy, you get a kill, and the gang gets a kill.

Once you get tired of killing frigates (I haven't) Aim for bigger ships. At that point, you should have a good base in solo PvP, and you can make decisions for yourself.

Why do it? Whether I win or loose, I get an adrenaline rush and I shake so much sometimes I can't hold the mouse still.

And then, there is the feeling of extreme satisfaction that come with killing something against the odds. It is why I keep trying. No other games have had that effect on me. Because it is hard. Everyone one want to survive, and everyone wants to kill the others.

When people say that you can't solo in Eve, they mean, they don't know how to. I have done it often enough, most night I will get into several fights. I count a fight as jumping into a gate camp and shooting 1-2 of their frigates. If I'm lucky, I'll get a kill. A lot of nights, I will loose my ship.

Where do you find fights? That varies, you'll find fights where people are. Null-sec entry gates, null-sec home system, highly travel low-sec area. At this moment, the north is hot. Just roam around Saranen these days, and you'll find be jumping into hostiles at every gate. Not saying it's easy surviving there, but you'll get a lot of chances to get fights.

Best of luck with you endeavor. I hope my tips were helpful.

Frigates. There are dozens to choose from. They all perform well, you just have to decide how you want to play.

Thing is by leaving your Corp and not participating in fw, you lose a lot of collective knowledge on fits and the meta.

I would suggest sticking around in one or the other to have a decent base to bounce ideas off of.

Install a program called Pirates Little Helper.

http://eve-plh.com/#/home

Invaluable tool for any pvp'er imo

As said always take time to access a situation before aggressing, assume every target has friends waiting somewhere, agress when you feel you have enough time to kill the tackle and get away if friends do come, i.e drag fights away from the beacon in plexes. personally i think the key to pvp is knowing when to fight and when to run, engage everything you see and you will die alot but its really the only way to learn.

Research the ships and what ammo works best against them, cant really count how many times people have engaged my shield Jaguar with em ammo and em drones.

You can always join a pirate group, they have no rules.

I prefer solo pvp as well in my spare time and find FW areas the best place to find the fun 1 vs 1 fights. If you want to keep the fights 1 vs 1, you need to stay with small, cheap ships. My fav. is a brawler merlin, costs a whole 5 mil isk fitted. I find using t1 frigates players will stay in the PLEX and fight instead of running away if I were to come in with a worm or daredevil as an example.

You have to give them the idea they have the advantage and there is no need for help. Don't be scared to go into a fight as the underdog and at 5 mil isk/ship, who cares if you lose. I have even taken down destroyers with my merlin. It's always a close fight, and sometimes I win and sometimes I lose, but boy it sure gets the blood pumping! You also need to be picky about your targets, ie. if you are fitted for close combat an INF is probably not a good target as you will probably get kited. You can also have a kiter Executioner that works very well, a brick Tormentor, a heavy tanked Incursus and a nasty drone using, cap sucking Tristan. There are plenty of options that will get you 1 vs 1 fights. I also stay out of heavily populated systems to avoid getting outnumbered.

I am by far not nearly as experienced at pvp as the posters above, but almost all of my fights are 1 vs 1 and they sure are fun. Keep it small, keep it cheap and be creative by not using standard fits. If you catch your opponent off guard with a clever fit, you win fights that you normally would lose. Blink

My attitude when doing solo pvp is, some days your the hammer and some days your the nail! Big smile

faction frigates are great for taking solo fights. hookbills and comets are what i usually go in. its not so overpowering to a tech 1 frig that they will take some fights against them, you can pull some kills against destroyers, not sure about pirate frigs, and obviously other faction frigs will fight you. you can use lp to get the frig of your faction for cheaper too.

If it's a fair fight.. you did something wrong. 2'nd rule of eve xD

I like to take small stuff trough wormholes, you get to see new regions each day without having to travel 60 jumps (and die in the 1'st low sec), it's also great way to bypass intel channels and gate camps. Hunting (and being hunted) inside wh space itself is cool too, it's a different experience without local chat and gate mechanics.

Links are changing. I'd hold off training a booster alt until more details (length of buff) are available.

You don't know who david is? David Cee, your cloaky Sabre pilot? Come on. He's good. And Killer GX in his trademark Slicer. No higher praise than that of your enemies o7
