Selling Orca Buffs A Good Idea?

So I'm an Orca pilot, got every single little buff skill up to V, and I was wondering if anyone has ever done this. What you do is go into a popular high-sec mining system, then offer an invite to your fleet with Orca mining buffs for a fee. I'm thinking 1-2mil per hour, while you just sit outside a station or in a POS, then maybe boot them when their time is up, and give them a warning prior.

Just thinking of ways to make money as an Orca Pilot. Anyone ever try something like this?

No, but it would make a great idea for corporations that want to offer both goods AND Services... a contract for a service... anyway..

no but it sounds like a good idea. Are you going to try it?

In very popular mining systems are other orca pilots too and i know a lot them offer boost for free. Like myself and the enpa group. That is how i make the most of my friends. If you wanne make money with an orca, then form a fleet for yourself. Use skiffs and a freighter. Dig safe. Cool

there used to be an Otela Public Mining fleet back in my RvB days (may or may not still exist). it was free to join up.

many an RvB pilot sat a neutral alt in that fleet to make some ISK while we went pewpew at each other.

While it seems like a good idea there are too many orca pilots willing to offer boosts for free. And if you advertise your service you will attract the wrong kind of attention.

Where people make isk is by forming an industry corp and taking a cut during the ore buyback. Who knows, you might enjoy it.

Most miners I know would not pay for boosts.

I give boosts for free to people who ask politely - most other Orca pilots do the same. As a bonus you will make the occasional friend while giving boosts & making friends in EvE is in my opinion more important than ISK.

Even if you get 10 miners to participate in your scheme you will only be making 10-20M per hour, which quite frankly is chicken feed.

If you're ever in the Domain region, head over to the system of Sirkahri. Lots of belts and relatively quiet, we could sure use the boost.

The very best way to make isk would be to train remote trade skills. Train marketing, procurement, daytrading, visibility and break the shackles of space station slavery once and for all, until your Orca ore hold is full. These skills really add a dimension of immersion to the game. PI and manufacturing/production also have some remote skills as well.

Selling boosts is tricky because it's difficult to judge the yield of the boosts. 1-2 mil per hour sounds great on paper, but then you have to balance squads and make sure everybody is getting boosts, then you have to track who is in the fleet for how long etc.

Boosts make friends, not money. :)

Orca is really boost hauler. It would have to be justified. The difference between this and a Myrmidon/BC active links boost is 5% per hour. So it costs you ~700 million versus ~50 million to get that extra 5% per hour, how many hours will it take to break even? People don't normally pay for boosts unless your in charge of the mining op. There are programs that calculate it all for you by watching the loot history. Rorqual is more specialized because it costs 500 mil each for several skills and has to be fueled. But then again, how long will it take to break even? The only service related industry I can find in this game is pretty much between Jump Freighter and building Capitals.
