How do you re stack drones?

When I fly around in my Navy Vexor issue I constantly run into this problem. I can't re stack drones inside the drone bay, so when I'm out in space instead of launching (5) Hobgoblins I have to either launch 1 at a time or highlight all of them and then launch. That takes too long.

It would be a hell of a lot easier if I could simply stack them up and launch 5 of whatever drone class I want.

What am I missing?

You need to create grouping for them and name them. I normally create groupings and name them after the drone or damage type and class depends on how many different drones you have. Click the drone and add to new group or existing group, launch the drones from the group name level.

Keeping track of damaged drones is still tricky.

You would have to repackage the drones to stack them - which can (effectively) only be done in a station and is therefore only viable until you launch them again (at which point the drones are unpacked and become unstackable singletons again).
Better to change your practices and learn to use the grouping system. Packaged drones added to a group used to be a little unruly (they would "randomly" leave the group when converting to singletons for example) and you will find limitations to the system. However it allows you to launch a flight of lights, recall them, launch mediums, recall them and then relaunch your lights as complete flights.

Create a group called Damaged or Fix Me .. something along those lines
Move drones into it as needed
Move drones out of it when they are repaired

When you are undocked, right click a drone and it will give you an option to 'move to group' then 'create group'

I use short terms that I can recognize fast.

Hobs = Hobgoblins
Lights = Warriors. The only other lights I really ever use.

HH = Hammerheads
Mediums = Vespa (or any other race medium tbh)

Heavies = Ogre II. The only heavy I ever load.

Armor rep = 2 light armor drones. I keep them to rep my own Hobs after missions.

ECM

You get the idea.
Grouping is the only way to go.
As others have mentioned, you can't restack/repackage drones once they have been deployed from your ship. (I always found this kind of odd)

I filled a Carrier with like, 300 drones once, and forgot to group them.
Bad idea.....

Like what everyone else said, Using grouping to manage your drones,

I name my groups as the racial types rather then damage type, but thats me, I will however have a 'Damage Wing" Group. Which is normally something like 3 heavies 2 Mediums and Light, works really well for VNI's if your using Geckos

There used to be a restriction on groups which prevented them containing drones of different types - T1 Acolytes and T2 Acolytes could not be in the same group for example.
Because groups are global (your PvP Comet has the same drone groups as your mission Rattlesnake) that can cause issues - unless that restriction has been removed?

i'm fairly certain I've done mixed drone grouping ...
some ships get 75 bandwidth, which means mixing light + medium + heavy to use all of it.

the only way to use bandwidth that way is for that rule to go ... otherwise bandwidth limits make little sense

The restriction only applies to drone type... not class or tech level.

You can easy stick a T1 combat drone in a group of T2 combat drones.
Likewise, you can have a Light, Medium, and Heavy combat drone in the same group.

However, you can't have Ewar/Repping/Salvage drones and Combat drones in the same group.
