So, what do you people think?

Exactly. The tearstorm from all the nice people in that thread is so tasty, that this feature is worth implementing for that reaction alone.

They're not wrong though. I thought CCP had learnt their lesson with mandatory things when they removed learning skills. Apparently not.

Well, I shunned every dailys in every game I played after few times completing them. Its something repetitive and boring to be honest. Even the general impression always feels like it was something forced and ties nowhere in the lore. Just some low level crap that noone would naturally pick up.

In GTA online you have those dailys too, I have not done even one.

I was thinking maybe CCP would do something better, what would bring attension, something original. But this is just a low hanging fruit, even 10 year old could bring that idea. It almost sounds like a joke, that is why there is so much about prima aprilis. Ugh

EVE's a hobby. Mandatory fun makes it less of a hobby. This is what happens when you hire someone that got fired from EA.

If I could completely ignore it, to the point never seeing that notifications and stuff, well I suspect that would be something similar to what GTA online have.

Like that electric post you know it is there at the side of the straight road, and you always drive past, not even noticing. Whats the point?

The problem is that this SP would accrue to a non-trivial amount over time. Last year, I had no time to play whatsoever during a stretch of 2 1/2 months. Even logging in was out of the question. That'd be 1m+ lost SP after this change goes through.

I just feel bad about it being SP, like it would magically spring from the air and you are hit by it, when you destroy a frigate that you destroyed 1000 times before.
Aurum is something different. If they would reward general activity, like for example weekly counter with graduallly bigger AU rewards, then people would have more freedom, it would not feel so mandatory, but rather like a long term plan, like if CONCORD observe and give you a praise in some form, but not SP from thin air for sure (maybe SP booster for some LP).

What they proposed is push button receive bacon. Roll

But the game already rewards activity.
Kill an NPC, get bounty and loot.
Kill a player, get loot, possibly bounty and LP.
Hack a site, get loot.

You get the idea. There's just so much you can do ingame already.

Exactly.

I know they are trying somehow to bring activity up, but they could try something harder at least. If people cant thought out a plan, maybe CONCORD could give them oportunity with a long term goal visible, like fighting pirates, fighting players with counters or low security status. that kind of thing, fitting to the game. With a reward at the end.

But now they are only loosing respect as a developer in my eyes.

And what's the difference between this and arbitrarily multiply by 5 the taxes of players who trade in NPC stations?

Taxes are entirely different. The cost will simply be passed onto the customer and things will continue as previous. There'll be certain deflationioary period, as lesser volume of items gets traded and ISK is siphoned out of the system. The market will eventually stabilise itself when the volume drops low enough for the ISK sinks to be below the ISK faucets, and from thereon out we'll see a slow crawl upwards.
