Thanks for all the replies, guys/gals, cheers <3

Apropos Stasis Grapplers:

I wonder how many missioners are actually using them --the overall consensus seems to be "situationally very useful, but meh," unless I'm mistaken.

'Course that might make the "reeling in the catch" easier :)

It seems that a lot fewer people mission in BS/Marauders these days, at least wehere I've started probing. T3 is almost the norm (can't say I blame 'em, I do missions on occasion too when I want some quick easy ISK/mindless entertainment --yes I know what not to do if I get visited :)-- and T3/HACs make missions a bit less boring.)

Hmmm....looks like Ishkur or Vengeance it is, for now.

Star Wars: the Old Republic may not be EVE. But I'll take the sound of dual blaster-pistols over "NURVV CLAOKING NAOW!!!11oneone!!" any day of the week.

Grapplers are more of a battleship gang thing. One on a frigate at 50km...meh. 5 on a frigate at 50 km.....very slow and soon to be dead frigate..;)

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

You want to know what immorality in EVE Online looks like? Look no further than Ripard "Jester" Teg.

Chribba is the Chuck Norris of EVE.

1km optimal but falloff is pretty good. 4km optimal overheated which makes a big difference. If you have fitting spare it is basically better than a normal web at almost all ranges. I think there is only one or two km where it is not as good.

Zappity's Adventures for a taste of lowsec and nullsec.

Try the higher level SOE agent hubs, I often see a few BS's blitzing lvl 3's for LP in Simela (mostly AC Machariels and RHML Ravens) and some running 4's in Marauders in the other hubs.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Just to add, the Astero is a evil tanky beast of a drone frigate, and many mission bears will underestimate it (its an exploration frigate...)

It also has the advantage of having scan bonuses, and can fit a cov ops cloak. Drooling yet?

A bit pricy but worth it.

Its big brother, the Stratios, is also underestimated (its an exploration cruiser....) You can find many many 600+ dps fits , altho I like to use twin Gecko's and laugh maniacally as they melt enemy ships. Again, can fit a monster tank plus cov ops cloak.

And then, there is the Navy Maulus.

*takes off hat*

Its basically a Tristan with a huge scram bonus. And I do mean HUGE. Very cheap too.

They don't get a fitting bonus to combat scanners though. :-(

The risk aversion is out of control because too many people have links and logi alts on standby, and even orcas for ship swapping. It's been done so much that many bears have too often experienced the unpleasantry of seeing a fight with an AF escalate into a multiship engagement.

Anything bigger than a T1 cruiser is terrifying. I remember being baited by a guy in a vexor while I was missioning in a rail brutix one month into the game. I took the bait having no idea that another ship with medium modules could get under my guns. Same guy tried earlier in a deimos and I didn't touch him, despite being in the only level 3 with decent tag drops and being pretty salty about losing them. Anything with T2 or T3 tags is pretty scary. Your best bet is one of the Gallente AF'S with enough DPS to power through an active tank. Vengeance is good with its selectable damage but low overall DPS will be a problem vs omni tanks. Best bet is probably cap booster with a neut to shut down their tank. But even getting people to bite is a struggle....you have to scan down dozens of missions to get one and the risk averse whales in pimpfit marauders and faction BS tend to just ignore you. Stupid is still out there, it's just much harder to find.
