Circadian Seekers are evil!!

So i just came back to the game, having only played 2 months a few years ago (and stopped for lack of time).

And I could not remember at ALL what I was doing. I feel I'm at a very noob level but do remember some stuff so rather than jumping back right into combat missions etc... I figured I would re-fit the Cormorant (that was already my active ship) with exploring tech and give it a shot.

So I jumped to a hi-sec area close-by with the fewest pilots in it, picked a target from my default view and warped there and then started trying to remember how probes work. So here I am drifting in the system with my main view cluttered with system windows and maps and ship fitting etc... When I here faint beeps and notice my ship overview (half hidden) is losing shields (aka I'm getting shot at) - I'm in hi-sec, I'm not in a combat zone (i think) etc... that seems very odd to me. My shield is half down, so I pick the nearest station to warp to it and get out of dodge. But seems at that very moment, something one-shots me. :(

It's no big deal (a bit of a time annoyance) Because the overall loss was 1.5 mil and one thing I learned in Eve very quickly is to never fly in more worth than you have. So with my very hard earned 7.5 mil I can replace it easily (although I won't , I have 2 merlins lying around so I'll make do with them until I relearn enough of the basics)

But looking at the combat log ; What the hell are circadian seekers and why did they attack me??????? (The first few topics about em I found seemed to say they were neutral - and non aggressive, that was super aggressive!!!)

Also my default view seems to have changed because I never saw them appear in my view - something I clearly remember always seeing ships and especially enemies in my view....

Gah, and I was so happy when I remembered I had a destroyer.... guess I'm not at that level yet >_<

NPC's with improved AI (they follow you in warp, and may have one-shot superweapons on their ships).

They may attack depending on whether you've shot sleepers in wormholes before, and also if you have entosis or other modules that have been manufactured from wormhole salvage. CCP is making an on-going lore story about them, so their behavior can change from neutral to aggressive, whenever CCP feels like it. I'm guessing they have standings, but the standings are hidden so players cannot see them.

As far as the overview, do you have your own customized overview tabs, or are you using the default ones? Because the overview won't have the intelligence to add new ship types to your custom views, so whenever CCP introduces a new type of NPC or a new ship for players, you have to manually put a checkmark in the box in whatever tabs you want that ship to appear in (usually all of them).

Ah I guess for the overview that explains then,

As for their aggressiveness I'm a bit at a loss, it's entirely possible that a module or 2 would fit their requirements for initiating combat as I had a couple of them bought off the market (I think a capacitor rig etc...) but most was just stuff found on beginner missions.

Now I'm tempted to give up starting an exploration career and go full combat though! (to get my revenge on them) >:(

Don't shoot the cicadian seekers. They just keep on spawning until you die. I saw five at a HS gate and attacked thinking I was in a BC and 5 npc cruisers should be no problem. At the time I didn't have my overview unfucked so they weren't visible on my overview, just in space. I started attacking, killed several, they were tough but they did die eventually. Then I switch my overview profile and I see my overview was completely full of them and my tank broke. Luckily I jumped out of system, otherwise I would have found out the hard way they follow you around in system.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Ok so now they sound even more like evil cockroach space monsters .... :(

Thanks for the heads up though

Scroll back through the various official lore news and read anything about sleepers, drifters, Thera, and wormholes, and you'll get the story.

Join the in-game chat channel SaraShawa-Overview and read the message-of-the-day (MOTD).

It ain't simple by any means (there are dozens of custom tabs that can be loaded, so explore them), but it is the prettiest.

I've avoided the Circadian Seekers for a while now since I've found out how nasty they are. However as far as I understand it they need to be provoked. That means either you shot at them at some point or you are carrying parts from dead seekers or drifters. Entosis links are made from dead seeker parts.

Since they were not showing up on your overview I think we should consider the possibility that you clicked on one in space mistaking it for a normal pirate NPC rat and then they followed you around. Either that or you had an Antikythera Element or something similar with you.

If neither of those are true then the seekers are doing something that I've not seen before, which is definitely possible.

I had pretty basic parts but they were all stuff i picked up through missions, so its possible some of them were what induced the aggressivness, as for what i was doing, I was just scanning the system with probes, I wasnt clicking anywhere....

Maybe I just warped to a part of the system that was like their private garden or something. (Jode Observatory space structure, somewhere in Lonetrek space I think)

To use some WoW terminology... they sound like Merloc's on Steriods! They used to have a massive aggro range and were so social almost then entire village came. That was years ago and Blizzard toned it down since then, but they sure made life interesting back in the day.

Not sure I'd like to run into any of the Seekers, but I suppose, if you can tank them without it costing you much, I'd probably go on doing what I was and ignore them, that way they don't repop and multiply on you.

Yea, if you warp to those abandoned Jove Observatories, they will attack you there.

I also came back to the game after a long break - Jumped in my gila for funsies and warped to an unknown wormhole, or whatever it's called. I got jammed, scrammed and blown up faster than I could right click to gtfo by the biggest douche npc in the game; Artemis Tyrannos. After that fun little lesson, I started flying cheap t1 ships again until I got the hang of the basics =)

Now I leave dead bodies in space, which the seekers will burn to scoop up, and then I attack with everything I have. I do love to see them explode, the little bastards. After they call in reinforcements however, I'm out. Bye bye.

Lost my mackinaw to circadian seekers today. Had no idea what the hell they are, thought they were regular npc guristas so i sent my drones against them, now im hoping they dont follow me around because it was a horrible experience to not be able to warp out in time and see your ship get destroyed before your eyes :) 200 damage per second from about 5 of them at once, not fun.

As I said in your thread, if you attack them without provocation, don't be surprised if they squash your little mining barge - you reap what you sow in this game, after all.
