I'm am in the midst of training a booster alt (going all chr). How practical is it to do fleet boosting in a T1 BC?

Also the booster has to be in system, not on grid is that correct?

Yeah, just in system. You can do it in a T1 BC just fine, but it won't be unscannable. OTOH, if you name it "Cyno prophecy" they aren't gonna scan it down either...

starting out a t1 bc is fine. Won't get bonuses like with CS and T3 command subbed but its not a bad setup. ths char helps the good shoot em up char drake boosted right now. Can't complain about the cheap boosts. Be happier in a real ship (few more days for that :) ) but any bonus is a good bonus.

Not running links and just relying on natural boosts from the basic warfare skills any ship will do.

For roaming gangs a BC booster is often superior in small systems - it's easy to fit an MWD, cloak, and three links on any of them, which means you don't have to worry about it getting caught on gates, and people are much less likely to freak out about a Cyclone on d-scan in a small system than a Tengu or Loki.

I for one take muchhhh more precautions when engaging in fights with T3's or Command ships on scan, and know that I wouldn't be nearly as cautious if I just saw another BC chilling out there, and the 15% loss of boosts isn't killer. As far as I recall you can also fit a expanded probe launcher on a cyclone with three links with the mwd/cloak - while it's no T3 it does almost as well and doesn't discourage fights half as much.

(OOTH it's pretty easy to keep t3 boosters cloaked up and only decloak them when the fighting starts, but they're still often spotted jumping into system, so t1 BC's definitely have advantages in the lowkey boosting department)

The drake and Myrmidon can both fit six links, IIRC....that'd be nice for any fleet

The point of the T1 BC booster is low cost to boot with...insane setups with faction co-pros are simply impractical and miss that point for quite a few "AUs"...

They work fine. It's not that hard to get them in hostile systems either. MWD and cloak help a lot when you get them in "un-scouted". Ppl have been doing that way before T3s were that popular (or even existed), so...
