Reddit gives you the chance to discuss and share opinions, as long as they're the popularly accepted opinions.
It's also a decent newslink aggregator, but ever since this war started, it has been nothing but le danque maymays nonstop.

Eh I don't mind reddit as its great for keeping up with news, finding awesome pics and keeping up with other games but yeah /r/eve is terrible and needs to go away.

Yeah, it usually is great to keep up with news, but recently it's been just propaganda, and as someone who's not actively participating in the war it's pretty much unusable right now.

It's not boring if you're actually fighting in it.

I'm just wondering how long the MBC can stay together before they start shooting each other and what the Russians might do.

The most active discussion forum for EVE needs to go away? Shocked

/r/any_multiplayer_game will tend to get a little heated sometimes but they are almost always more active than official forums due to almost non-existent moderation (basically as long as it relates to the game its good to go), open to the public without need to subscribe to a game, etc..

If you get a really good discussion going on r/eve it can make it to the front page or /r/games or /r/all and then suddenly influx of new people interested.

Does r/eve have negatives? Sure
Does it have more positives than negatives? Hell yes.

We still shoot at eachother outside of the North... and sometimes in the North too because /shrug

As far as how long the coalition will still function? Hard to say. I feel like at a minimum it will hold together long enough to burn the North to the ground... Now how long it will hold together afterwards waiting for CFC to undock from Saranwrap is a big question mark

  • Open for potential players to come on and ask questions
  • Dumb ideas/comments/posts disappear quickly rather than being flung to the top everytime someone feels the need to point out its dumb
  • Less moderation leads to more frank discussions of topics. You can actually criticize something without someone running to a mod because you violated their safe space with mean micro-aggressions (i.e. you pointed out how their idea was silly)
  • You can post lots of propaganda posters without the mods freaking out (big one for me Big smile)
  • Side note to above: if you don't want to see the war propaganda there is a filter button on the side bar
  • It has much more traffic than the official forums
  • The devs actually read/interact there
  • Its more fun

Negatives?

  • It can be a little hostile sometimes which can upset people who take it too seriously

1 - Granted.
2 - Not from what I've seen, whenever I open a thread the top posts are usually a variation of "ayy lmao" "lol autism" or somesuch. Dumb ideas disappearing also means that anything that goes against the common feels of the userbase would be downvoted into oblivion. Even if it is right.
3 - People running to mods because you disagree with them is a problem everywhere, on reddit they just downvote you instead.
4 - Personally not interested in that as I am not a war participant, but I can see the allure in that. Granted.
5 - That would require me making an account.
6 - Granted.
7 - Granted.
8 - Purely subjective.

For me, I wouldn't say that its positives outweigh the negatives.

I will speak truth. I sometimes go to r/eve and indulge myself in those dank memes. Oops

So just looking at it being open for potential players, having higher traffic, and more dev interaction... exactly what negatives over power that?
