Hey,

Ive always been curious as to why there is not a shield version of this module?

Has this already been brought up in the past and has CCP given a reason behind this?

Thanks in advance! Bear

Shields and armour are different... this is one of those things... like shield amps or Slave implants....
Just because one has something doesnt mean the other has to too Blink

No, I mean like a Reactive Armor Hardener... a Module that switches resistances to the damage type you are taking most of. Im sure you know that tho...

i guess it wouldnt be as useful in a shield situation as it takes a cycle to adjust the resistances, so in armor you have the whole shield to get through which gives the armour time to adjust the resistances before the ship hits armour.

shield you would be at a disadvantage with such a mod and a ward field etc would be more useful because its plugging the resistance hole from the start.

Just a heads up, unless you take armor damage the resistances do not shift.

It would depend how they implemented it though. the RAH already is pretty beefy on cap for armor. Shields which are notoriously cap inefficient would probably be much worse.

That said, i'd not say no to module that provided up to 60% resistances that only stacked against a DC.

Yup. It's why it's hardly ideal in a predominately high-alpha fight and intended to be useful in the long run after it's had enough time (or, in this case, cycles) to adjust and shift resist. Can't remember how many cycles it takes to fully shift, but it takes a few cycles at least.

3% shift per cycle, Cycletime is influenced by your Skills.

i always thought armor has to take damage for the module to shift the resistances. never checked if it already does in shield though tbh.

edit, sorry, has been answered already, silly me

The Reactive Armor Hardener was created by the DEVs to placate armor tankers.

Around that time, Ancillary Shield Boosters were the FOTM and superior to the Ancillary Armor Repair in many ways (and still is).

2 words... Passive regen.

Combine that with adaptive resists and an ASB you have some stupid op tanks.

Hard to fit a shield tanked ship for pvp already due to middle slots issue and I doubt pve players would give up hardeners for it. However, a low slot module will prob replace all the dcus currently used in shield fits.
