I received this indirectly and I'm not authenticating its credibility

In December the Imperium forces struck out to burn down the surrounding systems that supposedly were a possible treat to their existence. They bashed POSs and caused havoc in Placid,Black Rise, Cloud Ring and Syndicate. Eve was their playground and all was well.
Until one of the Imperium Alliances, the Space Monkey Alliance (SMA)located in the Fade Region, stole isk from the ”I want Isk” (IWI) gambling website. The IWI started hiring mercenaries to retaliate against SMA. It became evident that SMA was the weakest link in the mighty Imperium. Within a matter of a couple of weeks over 2000 players left SMA because of the amount of fighting taking place.
Blood was now in the water. The next thing that happened was the Imperium and SMA lost their holdings in Cloud Ring. Before and after this event, SMA lost key Corporations and key Fleet Commanders. This was still not of consequence to SMA because they relied on the Goon Swarm Federation (GSF), the largest alliance in the game, to bail them out of trouble.
The sharks are circling. Fighting and etosising broke out in earnest in the Vale of the Silent and the Fade Regions. Both SMA and the Get off my Lawn Alliance (Lawn) were under constant heavy pressure from an ever growing loosely formed coalition of aligned players. To counter this threat, the Imperium moved its main staging area to the Saranen System of the Lonetrek Region where they are today.
While pressure continued to tax SMA in Fade. It was decided to pull Lawn and the Bastion Alliance back away from the Vale of the Silent. Enter the first, of I’m sure many more, betrayals. The Circle of Two Alliance ( then a member of the Imperium) made a deal with the Imperium enemies to entrap the Bastion/Lawn Capital fleet. It was only just by chance that it didn’t happen.
Sharks! SMA was decimated and abandoned Fade for Saranen. Three months of fighting in Fade and the lack of support from GSF was enough. The loosely formed coalition, that are the enemies of the Imperium, is now a conglomerate called the Money Badger Coalition. At last count, consists of over 60 Alliances with a combined Capital fleet that far out numbers their opponent.
Rumors abound. The GSF is keeping a close eye on SMA. One heavily talked about rumor is that SMA is leaving the Imperium. The Fidelas Constans Alliance (FCON) and Lawn are said to be talking about extricating themselves from the war.

Reasons and motivations are a difficult thing to figure out. In a conflict like that, barely anyone will honestly say what's on their mind and why they are doing, what they are doing. It's all spin and narrative all over the place. Your synopsis seems plausible, but it's no more or less accurate than the next.

On your predictions of the future, I'd rather not comment as I am not the scryer you are. I would consider it possible that we'll lose another one or two alliances, but whether it will actually happen, who it will be or if it will be a fullblown betrayal or just a mere departure I simply cannot foresee.

When it comes to SMA - frankly, I would have expected them to bug out many a time in the years past, but it appears I did them wrong and grossly underestimated their integrity. (Sorry guys! No not believing in our allies anymore, promise!)

Even outnumbered 5 to 1, we still killed them over and over and over. But now it's like 50 to 1...

No biggie though, once it blows over (hostile already killing each other outside stations... Lol), we will see the new sov map of EVE.

That would explain why Mittans promised all CO2 members will be captured, drawn and quartered. And proposing a new kickstarter to revise Dante's "Inferno" to include a special circle of Hell for all war-time traitors to the Imperium.

Ripard Teg (yeah, that one) had a good article on the topic.

I found it on /r/eve, which appears to be very lively compared to these forums. Roll

Lol. You guys have been getting spanked by horde for months. You even tried to invade Querious and failed miserably.

Yeah...I would prefer not to have to go outside EvE's own stuff to find out about EvE stuff...but evidently that's the way it goes now, if even devs make EvE announcements on reddit rather than here. Ugh Call me a Luddite, but I don't like it. Nosir, I don't like it at all.

Only a matter of time before reddit starts doing tenbux for /r/eve membership, eh? :D

Its because CCP (ISD's) drove everyone away with ridiculous over the top moderation. Largely because of the incident regarding Kartoon. Since then it has never been the same, and it never will be again. Kugu used to be the got to place after that but it also got shut down. So now its Reddit...or if you are in CFC and under a reddit ban, TMC.

The old school forum wars were as crucial to winning the war as winning on the battle field. Miss the old days of your Daily Jade's or Sir Molle trolling everyone on April Fools day.

The bravado and self-assured, institutional threats to enforce a mythical dominion are standard operating procedure the expectations edificial expressions of empire require. The landed gentry must be reassured without it seeming the authority in question feels the need to offer such reassurances. Two questions reveal themselves, therefore:

1.) Is the cat out of the bag?

2.) If so, are the targets too full of themselves to recognize this?

That these questions exist calls into doubt the resolve of the first actor, and the merit of the second. Neither side can be assured, of that we can be assured. The "Secret Weapon" (calling to mind last century's most prominent megalomaniac) this "Children of Summer" saving grace referred to (yet, another veiled reference to the same) of course is the windfall GSF expects when school lets out this summer and all their "other players" suddenly swarm to them bolstering their numbers, and thereby turning the tide. Mentioning these alone reveals the emperor truly feels naked. "You may be winning now, but wait till our n00b squad gets here!"

It's as though GSF is answering question 2 in a Freudian way. (Let slip the dogs of war!) Unfortunately for the attackers - the antagonists as it were, such enterprises have found themselves dashed upon rocks of their own devising and unable to stand the test of time as a singular enterprise. (This seems to be the foundation of GSF's hopes.) However, the protagonist's references to Rome again may be the boasts of the self-delusional. Rome fell as the result of the overall conditions created by its mere existence, not by the concerted efforts of a singular enterprise.

It could also be to do with the fact that when you make an announcement on Reddit, you're not just making it known to EVE players, you're making it known to the millions of (currently) non-EVE-playing Redditors too.

My concern for this is due to Reddit history. Once these forums are dead and it's all /r/eve all the time, then Reddit gets some new CEO full of SocJus and a chip on xer shoulder to "show those meritocratic whitemaleCIS Eve-PLAYING sh!tlords who the boss is", CCP ends up in a "comply or else" situation and before you know it, we'll be looking back to the days of the ISDs and Eve Online's simple forum rules compared to some dystopian future Reddit "coc" thing full of vagaries and minefields based on someone being "offended" or not (which CFC/goonies/SA will game to death as another aspect of meta-warfare based on concern trolling).

(yeah I have little faith in post-modern humanity)

Notice the "summer children" reference.

Expect "demographic warfare". They will try to hold out until the late-fall downturn where players start to deal with mid-term exams, travelling and seeing their families for the holidays, etc. That's when they will retaliate with players whose families don't want them to visit and won't have any parties or dinners to go to.

Yeah I know, "not all goonies" but looking at the insulting tone and demagogic attacks from that TMC posting, that's apparently the mindset they are setting up around this. Sore losers.

For me, personally, it's because reddit is garbage. People will upvote what they like to hear, so they will write exactly that as well. What they don't want to hear will vanish within an hour. It's the same circlejerking you can find everywhere on the internet, but on reddit the circlejerking even makes the bad words go away. What kind of a silly system is that?
