I'm just returning to the game and at this point in time I'm confused by a few things. I thought I'd post here instead of the cowardly r/eve posting norm that allows people to post in anonymity. Shocked

1) I used to really enjoy Somer Blink back when I was a gambler. I played that game with my in game isk and I was somewhat surprised when they were shut down for being an RMT group. How is iWantIsk different from them? I see no external difference and I believe that they were actually banned for their RMT activities and then brought back by CCP.

This leads me to my second question.

2) I understand that people can use their isk in any way that they wish and sponsoring mercenaries and alliances is an excellent use of that money. My question would be "Does CCP support the use of RMT money when it will profit CCP in terms of increased media attention, subscriptions and publicity or are their rules subject to change the minute it becomes inconvenient once more?"

Finally I'll make a couple of points.

As a general comment, I'd like to say that I'm happy this war is finally happening. It is happening because we have been smug and we have been resting on our laurels. I don't know how it will end but I am enjoying fighting it.

The other thing I know is that this fight is not being fought because of jump fatigue or because of entosis lasers, it is being fought despite those two horrid game mechanics that absolutely no one in the game enjoys.

I think the controversy was over Sommer's PLEX sales and bonus ISK rewards, not over the site being for gambling.

OP, I'm pretty sure you don't understand what RMT is. Also, there's no such thing as the "RMT Alliance". Perhaps you are thinking of the Moneybadger Coalition fighting in World War Bee.

OP has been drinking the koolaid.

And he loves the taste.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

The real question is why are gambling sites allowed at all. The rule on third party applications is that they are OK as long as they don't give an advantage, and I cant think of a third part app that gives more of an advantage than one that makes trillions of ISK. Here there's account being run as businesses, almost guaranteed RMT and economy breaking benefits from a third party app. I guess it comes down to whether or not CCP think it benefits them to keep you around, then the rules count for nothing.

They are different by virtue of not selling ISK for real money.

I'm going to build a big wall that will keep the Gallente out, and they're going to pay for it!
