Hahaha, yeah... well **** man, there's no way to know that aside from actually trying it out. EFT only goes so far - at some point you have to confirm your suspicions in game. :)

It's way better damage than the old way of using autocannons on the Merlin, and better than electron blasters (because lolrange). Once I finish Energy Management V for a MAPC II, I can use ions, but until then... we derailed the thread P

Nonsense, we're talking about the best ships in game. Hybrid ships.

Indeed. So how about that Falcon? It got the same speed buff that all other Caldari hybrid ships got, so it must be a hybrid ship by CCP's definition P

Haha, I saw that in the patch notes. I even briefly considered using a Falcon like a pilgrim or Blarazu, but decided it probably wasn't worth it. The DPS was too low then... I'll have to look at it again though. >:-)

Both the damage and tank were too low. Even if you have the damage, if you ever miss a single jam, you are immediately dead. I'd rather use a Griffin and not even pretend to have a tank. I almost killed a Stabber in a Griffin once, but it managed to get back to the gate in time...

Dude, you should check a Rocket Kitsune out. Its way better than anyone gives it credit for... its just also impossible to get a fight. :(

Speaking of EAFs... I know it isn't "The Best" as far as a PvP ship, but for me it is "The Best" as far as fun: The Sentinel. It is my absolute favorite solo ship of all time. The DPS is pretty low and it is limited to taking on gunboats, but it is just so much fun to dance 18km away from the target, destroying cap and gun optimal, while slowly grinding him down.

Most Frigates (T1 and T2), Destroyers, some Cruisers are dead before the fight even begins. It's so much fun. : >

I enjoy flying Kitsune and Sentinel, but strictly as long range (30-40 km) support ships. Their low tank makes me extremely nervous. That said, I have had great fun with both of them.

The most notable moment was when my gang engaged a Dramiel+Vagabond, only to realize they were tackle for an oncoming blob. I jammed both of them, and my whole gang escaped. Before I warped out, the Dramiel and Vagabond were futilely and angrily trying to bump me. I feel bad and awesome at the same time for that.

Am I the only one who likes the Keres and Hyena here? (Respectively, 35+km long-point/ca. 14km scram--without heating-- and 20km web, ditto).

The few times I or people I know flew them over the years, it was always amazing and delightful how big of a pest of yourself you could make in a gang (/me giggles)...

Favourites:

PvE/Industry:

Tengu--Missioning in anything else is just too much like work after this one, plus can handle much higher-end solo PvE easily.
Machariel--Even missioning is almost fun with this one--just blap everything from range, motor to next gate, repeat until done 5-10min later.
Vargur--Like a Mach, just less flamboyant, more "workmanlike" in its' approach. I think it looks cooler, too, in some ways.
Noctis--I just love these ships, they are freakin' cool, and work so perfectly in their intended role.
Mammoth: Probably the best value of all the tech I haulers.
Drake--Versatility and PvE capability across a hugely broad range of applications. Will grow with you for a long time, as well.
Orca--HiSec carrier. So endlessly useful in almost any situation!

PvP:

Drake, Hurricane, Harbinger--Such a delightfully perfect performance : cost ratio, such wonderful versatility, and fully insurable! Plus the Drake is so tastefully-restrained sexy/majestic looking. Haven't flown a PvP Myrm yet, but many I know also swear by it, for the same reasons (and it also looks cool).
Rifter--The so adorably perfect little PvP ship. If I was ever forced to choose only one ship in which I must stay for the rest of my EVE-life, then I would choose this one, without hesitation.
Jaguar--I like Rifters. I like shield-tanking. I like fast shield-tankers, and the Rifter hull--so here is the perfect evolution of the Rifter. Lovely slot-layout, soon to improve even more.
Wolf, Enyo--Very pure expressions of the ganky assault frigates, and soon to be even better. A bit slow for my tastes, but whatever...
Ishkur--Turn loose the Swarm!!
Falcon, Rapier--I like pissing leet-sters off, and these ships do this really, really well Twisted Force-multiplier, dig it, baby!
Vagabond--Giant interceptor, lots of fun to fly.
Stiletto--The best gang-ceptor, bar none.
Crow--Criminally under-appreciated by most, but we who like to fight at long range "get it."
Hyena, Keres, Kitsune--more fun ways to **** leet-sters off and generally be a pest.
Vigil--the ninja-salvager's best friend.
Helios--of the 4 CovOps, it has enough powergrid to fit a MicroWarpdrive, and a small shield buffer without an MAPC. And then, you've still got 3 more mid-slots, and 3 lows to play with.
Manticore--really, all 4 of the stealth bombers, but this one has the most CPU, so easiest to fit/most versatile.
Widow--The coolest ship ever. Still waiting on some skills to make full use of mine.

Ni.

The Hyena is too paper-thin for how much attention it draws to itself, IMO. I've been telling myself to try the Keres (I have Gallente Frigate V and EAF IV), but I never got around to training sensor dampeners. Is it really that fun?

Its alright but its really fragile and its capacitor is too thin to do the MWD/Damp/Point thing like an inty does.

I was thinking more AB/Point/Damp with railguns, for maximum infuriatingness. Maybe I shouldn't be telling you this.

What? Nobody picked the vigil?

Seriously, the most amazing ship for essentially no cost.

Blackbird owns my heart. And scares the crap out of me.

Drake for when I've got the shakes after flying some auto-primary EWAR ship. I once went 3 months in Syndicate without anybody firing at my Drake unless it was the only target in range.

Ishkur if you've got a buddy in another Ishkur. One isn't enough to kill Drakes at a decent rate.

I did. So stupidly fast, cheap, and a good 3/3/3 slot layout. The go-to ship for ninja salvagers, as well.

35km point, IIRC. Much cheaper/more mobile than an Arazu/Lachi, though they all need an EHP and speed buff + signature radius reduction, they pop much too easily now.

Damps can work very nicely on a kiting-fit against smaller (lower base targetting-range) ships, though the skills do help a lot (they also are rather cap-heavy for a frigate.).
