With a T1 tank on a BS and low skills, he will more than likely even have to warp out within the mission because chances are he won't pop the target in an optimal order to not get overwhelmed by the incoming DPS. Gone Berserk for example might be too much to chew if for some reason he open up with trigger kills.

I prefer a cap stable build for new players, that's how I started and it lets you focus on the mission and the guides. The below fit will work, you MUST hover change tank to match that of the npc you are shooting, so switch the thermal and kinetic hardeners. You may also need to fit T2 cap rigs.
Once you get better and more confident, you can switch it up a little, maybe get in a prop mod. READ the mission guides, they will save you heaps of headaches.

You can also carry a mobile depo and switch up as needed.
You still better of in a decent corp who can help you.

Do you think that in early stage, when you're slow, salvaging / looting is worth it, or even with low skills / fit, it's better to go LP and chain missions rather than kill full room ?

I would guess blitzing would be better, Loot/salvage is so in the toilet. But I don't have low sp numbers, or even raven numbers at this point.

Well, I finally run some tests. Raven, bullshit fit, as I'm too proud to use any given example. As expected, it's painfully slow*. I was able to run maybe two L4/hour on the long term, maybe less than that, 3 for 2 hours...

As stated by one of you, I had to warp out a few times, even after reading eve-survival. The third room of Dread pirate Scarlett, oh my. Now I rush this room and don't fight.

I haven't keep good record of earning and losing (repair and ammo). I'm still under the impression that it was better than I expected (it /may/ have been near 20 millions/hour, which is laughable, but I was thinking that would have been worst).

If I found some hours to spend on that again, I will try to give more accurate numbers, for newbros out there ^^




* especially when I fit a 50mn MWD and not a 500mn one ^^ It took me two missions before I get that BS were f*ck*ng slow, but not as much as I feel !

In a low skill raven, you want a mjd. The downsides don't mean so much when your running missions that slow. From the fit posted above, swap the two cap rechargers for mjd and sebo. Be good enough for now.

No MJD's around 5 years ago.. yes its slow, but it works. How easy and quick do you think its going to be with an MJD moving between gates ? each to his own, but you also have the test server to play on.

The point of the mjd is that you don't need to waste 5 slots on tank and 7 on cap. You can get away with a 3 slot tank for most missions, and focus some mods on actually applying your damage. Given that the raven has that nice missile velocity bonus, you don't need to count volleys as much, and your pretty much as effective at lock range as you are at 0. Therefore you can kill stuff quicker by fitting an mjd with mgc's or tp's, than sitting at warp in and just cap stable face tanking the room.

Like you said, each to his own, but there's a reason mjd is known as a 'pve win butan'.

L4's with T1 BS + T1 fit ?

yes, as already mentioned they will be doable but it might take a while, and you could have to warp out every now and then if your tank begins to fail.

the best option would be to make frequent use of the mission guides on eve-survival

then just keep skilling up for
Core fittings
T2 tank
T2 weapons

Raven or Navy raven will be a good extention of the drake skillset for L4 missioning
The Golem is a good extention of the Raven skillset
