I also come back at the beginning of Feb after a 3 year break. I felt the same as you guys and still do. When I played previously from 2003-2013, I started out in mining ended up running missions when they came out and traded in yulai. When yulai went pop I ran missions again for rep fleet so I could trade in Rens, which I did till it burned me out but always wanting to get Into PvP.

I have little knowledge of PVP in this game and kinda ashemed of it too. When I rejoined in Feb I had and still have the intention to PvP sadly ive fell back into trade as im good at it, I do know it will burn me out again if I carry on with this route. I lived in WHspace for a month too since I been back, didn't find it lucrative with my trade/PvP/leadership skills either plus saving bookmarks constantly got seriously tedious.

The issue I have is "at the keyboard " play time where I can only get 1-2 hours quality play time once to twice a day. From what I have done previously in PvP is roamed and camped where nothing can happen for a good chunk of time, which for Me is a waste of play time, currently FW looks like it could be a way to go for me. But its which corp to join without a full API and making enough isk to fund a pvp habit + buy a gtc a month with a ittle left over for a rainy day.

With all that said, your on the right tracks if you asking on the forums. In your free time I would recommend reading the first 3 or so pages of most of the forums. Watch some you tube videos, johnny pew seems to get a lot of likes and makes some pretty OK vids to watch. Decide what you came back to eve for and have a real go at it. Try some thing new from last time you played if you didn't enjoy it or was not that interesting to you.

Stuff that pfoably wasn't around last time I/we played.......
*Incursions looks good fun and isk is good I hear but trying to get into a gang has been unsuccessful for me.
*FW (faction warfare) as i said is the route for me i think, I understand you can be online and PvP with I'm minutes. I just need someone to hold my hand and show me the ropes.
*Planetary interaction kinda read up on it and seen a few videos, but it looks like it won't float my boat.
*Project discovery just came out, bit of a mini game which benefit's real life science. It's interesting and is a great idea to plop it into EVE as it may open up a few carriers for some people in the future however its not how I wanna spend my few hours of escapism.
*Citadels are coming soon, read a little about them but seems more industry based, I know nothing about industry, POS's and anything above t1 manufacturing sohavent followed it any further.
There may be more too that I'm unaware of or have missed.

You could fall back I to something you did before just so you get used to setting up your UI and getting used to finding things at a glance. Also the overview plays a far bigger part than it used to iirc, the amount of settings and tweaks makes my brain hurt.

Ina nutshell find a corp... Eve is a social game we need others to push out horizons, yeah I'm not in a corp yet but i see this is a shameless and tactical plug for one.Big smile

All the best.

From what I've read about FW it is littered with spies. I've heard that most FW corps are bordering on paranoid about it. API keys are one of the most effective ways to combat that. If you join an FW corp without a strict API policy you will likely have spies in it so you might want to look for an FW corp that has a strict API policy.

As far as the GTC thing, if you are talking about using PLEX to pay for game time, for what it's worth this is a game and to me that means I'm here to have fun. If you are spending 80+% of your game time grinding isk to pay for game time then that does not sound like fun.

It is none of my business what you money situation is but I've seen people with $ 180 per month cable bills bitching about the $15 bucks that they spend on a game sub that they play 3-4 hours per night. You'll spend $15 just going to a movie by yourself.

To me the wise move would seem to be focus on maximizing fun / hour and if you have enough isk laying around doing nothing at the end of the month then buy a PLEX. But if you are grinding to buy a PLEX just because you are a cheap ass then don't blame the game for you getting burnt out.
