What ship is worth it for moderate ore hauling? Ideally it should be able to haul around 1 million plaig.

(I'm a complete idiot with ships in EVE which is why this is likely a stupid question.)

0.35m3 per unit, 1 million units, 350,000m3 capacity.

You're talking a freighter.

Freighter is for serious hauling and is useful for Industrialists, but it's a long train and quite slow.

I think of an Orca for moderate hauling. It's a quicker train, much quicker to travel using the MWD/warp trick, is less expensive than a freighter, and it's very useful for hauling ships.

You can also consider refining or compressing the ore to reduce the cargo space requirement.

I'd recommend compressing it, makes it far far smaller. Only thing you have to watch out for then is to not carry too much so you don't become a super gank magnet.

If it's compressed you could easily carry that much in a miasmos.

This indeed. Just don't fill up a miasmos with compressed ore, you can easily exceed 200m worth which is *usually* the magic number where it pays off to gank.
