So mining, industry, trading was fun (kinda) but I got enough ISK and supporting income now to explore other activities.

I trained a new character for PvP (around 11mil SP and counting) and I am currently wondering where to dive in first, since I am aiming to make that my main. I have minimal PvP experience and I know the theory. Can fly up to Gal cruisers with T2 fittings and cross-trained frigates. Also will probably stick around the cruiser category till I have enough PvP experience.

For the time (and 4mo more) I have a very hard & randomized work schedule and cant commit to CTAs or similar demanding activities.

So what would you vets suggest..
  • Factional Warfare with or without Corp.
  • Red vs Blue.
  • Some casual wh/low/null sec Corp.
  • Some 1vs1 duel dojo. (Is there such a thing?)
  • Other?

  • I don't like trash talk station sitting or forum hugging, rekt, htfu d!ckwaiving warrioring and rather actually shoot stuff and get shot at. Therefore I would rather avoid angry moba style boys since I'm not 15. Guess mandatory "I'm too old for this sh!t" goes here.

Thanks and hope to shoot your face soon in game ! Shocked

I started pvp in lowsec for a minute, then joined TLF, then KEA. There is always action in the warzone. I am still pretty new but there is no looking back for this character. I also don't have tons of time to play, but when I do log in to the warzone, I get good fights.

Most important? Join a corp, get on comms, ready your body.

If you want to jump into PvP right away I'd recommend checking out a corp in FW or picking a group like Pandemic Horde who is based out of null sec. Both have low barriers to entry, fly cheaper ships (which is great for learning) and seem to have tons of content.

Join "Spectre Fleet" channel for casual but pure PvP without obligations, just choose a fleet from the schedule, x-up and have fun, comms are mostly OK.

EDIT: as your char is in CAS, you may speak up in corp chat and get advice. CAS forms a community living in Syndicate NPC nullsec.

mission flipping is fun if you are the patient sort.
sort of like fishing just with your fellow man.

its how i got started and its good training for both scanning and managing a frigate under pressure.

its also outrageously funny at times .

I'd suggest RvB to start with.

You'll get a lot of fights very quickly against some very skilled opponents who will be happy to help you out.

I suggest fitting up a frig, finding your local fw region, and sitting in a novice plex. Then attack the crap out of the first thing you see.

Fit up something you feel comfortable losing, and go out and do it.

Sometimes I wonder about new-bros, and the question "how do I get into PvP". My simple answer is and will always be the above. You get into it by doing it, some of us prefer solo, some in groups, the adventure is figuring out how you like it.

That is the best part about Eve is, it's your game, figure out how you like to play it and enjoy.

Any large null sec coalition is an excellent choice.

Most offer everything from free skill books, free ships, reimbursement for combat losses, training fleets, incentives to specialize (Logi often gets reimbursed above ship replacement cost. Profit from dying), and of course a Fleet Finder with a dozen fleets at any given time, doing anything from group PvE to roams, camps, ganking, Blops, mining, Incursions, etc...

If you are serious about doing PvP, then there is no easier way to go. We do everything from small gangs just roaming around, to 1000 player node melting superbrawls.

When you're not out putting killmarks on your hulls, enjoy PvE in upgraded sov space. A few Havens and you can null bear in style festooned in Dedspace modules.

I strongly recommend training into Interdictors as an immediate goal. The train for them is short, the ships are cheap (your corp will probably hand them out for free) and yet they are one of the most singularly useful ships in null sec. FOTM doctrines come and go- but the Interdictor is a fixture in anything that undocks in null. With the exception of Blops, you will always be welcome in any null fleet. They are also just a lot of fun to fly. You end up scouting, being cloaky eyes, holding a gate, slowing down pursuers.....I can fly big shiny ships of the line but always have a couple Dictors in my hangar ready to go.

No one will ever care if you fly anything else. Take note of this, care bears. You do not have to put any more training into your toon than flying a Dictor well, to have access to all that upgraded space. Just show up to important fleets (don't be ratting while your alliance is fighting to save a POS) and fly a ship that your FC will probably give you for free. The rest of the time, you can mine or rat or whatever till your heart's content.

I started out pvp by stalking data and relic sites in a rocket fit stealth bomber. You can get some pretty pricy kills out of that, and if you're good at it, enough loot to cover any losses (some explorers do shoot back... such counter-ganking is also a fun form of pvp. If you fit a sensor booster, you'll often get the pod as well (just beware that your sec status will go down the drain rather quickly.)

It's fun if you enjoy a cat and mouse game of slowly stalking and trapping (through bookmarked sites, especially warp perches in those sites) your prey.

I've moved up to bigger game since then, but it still remains fun.

Another way, is to look like an easy prey in some lowsec belt a couple of tenth km from the warp-in ... I remember my battle Exequror and the neut Tristan ...Pirate

...if you want to try this, do it now as long as your age, sec status and killboard still look innocent ...

    The simplest way

    Step 1 - Get a cheap-fit Frigate
    Step 2 - Undock
    Step 3 - Shoot someone
    Step 4 - go to Step 1

As Tipa mentioned, CAS does stuff --> http://www.cascorporation.com/

Also there is a community channel for random pvp roams
don't have the link for it, but now I've mentioned it someone will probably post it for you.

Practice with Tech 1 Frigates, tackling and suppressing opponents from warping off. Being a tackling hero for your fleet can really make a difference in getting those juicy, glorious kill mails.

Joining a null sec or 0.0 space alliance that is new player friendly early, is a great start to getting into PvP.

Try the CAS Combat Guild. Introducing new players to nullsec and lowsec PVP since...well, since forever.

You will probably find contacts in CAS corp chat who can introduce you.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Got back from a job assignment yesterday and had time to check all your suggestions.

I joined Spectre Fleet channel for starters and will jump in a fleet roam as soon as possible to learn the basics of flying under an FC and a doctrine. Unfortunately I can't join CAS since this is my indie character. My PVP character is a Minmatar and cant join CAS(unless i'm wrong). Useful info though and I admit the CAS thing is something I was totally unaware of.

I'm also shadow-scheming with a friend to scan down rich mission runners and relieve them off their excessive ISK.
We will probably go down in a ball of fire at first, but we are having a blast trying to lay down a plan of engagement.

Also taking a peek into some more casual Nullsec Corps and would love to find time to join the ongoing coalition war before its over. Interdictor training mentioned above would be a plus in this case it seems, so may move that up the training queue now.

p.s Does naming my ship 'Fluffy Unicorn' count as looking innocent as Tipa Riot suggested? Big smile

Thanks again all. Now need to get off the forums and in the game. They are so addictive! o/

feel free to hit me up for tips on bear flipping , plenty of nuance to it and patience is required*
myself and a couple of mates were the core grope of flippers from Feyds old "kill it forward" campaign twords the end of its life
so the experience is certainly there to tap if you need it

*around one in eight of the suitable bears you warp in on will actually engage,
though you can skew this either way depending on what and how you fly.

CAS is an NPSI community like Spectre and Bombers Bar (also very newbro friendly, but focussed on black ops warfare), everybody can join without leaving NPC corp. They have a standing fleet in Syndicate. I can't link the channel for the Combat Guild, because I'm on my tablet, but just ask in CAS corp chat with your forum account.

"Fluffy Unicorn" maybe a biiiit too obvious bait P. I just left the name unchanged, so it contains you char name. Showing that you are able to rename your ship will make wannabe predators cautious Lol

You can still join with your PVP alt. Using your CAS character check out the CAS COMBAT GUILD chat channel in game to learn more.

It's not what you do that makes you look innocent. It's what you don't do. Not naming your ship is one way you can make yourself look more innocent.
