What Is Good For Solo & Small Gang PVP At 2016?

I might try to get back in game one more time. To be honest I have absolutely no clue how and what to field for PVP nowadays.

Facts: I created a new character last night. He is Amarr and I forgot to put skills on training. Oh, I will be living in lowsec.

I used to like tackler and ewar roles. I used Caldari indys and Falcon with my old main character, but well, it was like 10 years ago. What ships I should aim for? How about the tactics at these days? Armor or shield? Long or short range? All tips and tricks welcomed!

Almost everything is good right now, an easier list than what is good is what is bad, here is what is bad right now

- Crucifier Navy Issue
- Griffin Navy Issue
- Cruor

Not a comprehensive list by any means but yeah those two navy ewar frigates are garbage. I'm kind of surprised nothing is being done about them. And the Cruor is trash. Take everything good about the Garmur, then take the exact opposite, the Cruor. It even looks like a piece of pooh in-game.

But yeah, pretty much everything is good right now, amarr get to use lasers missiles or drones so just pick a sexy ship and train it and learn it, that's the way to do it, just pick a ship who you think looks sick as hell and train for it. No point flying an ugly POS, gotta fly in style

This basically, except the meta changes a little depending on the space(null, low-sec, high-sec,wh). Either way, hit up some videos on YouTube. You will see that tons has changed since 2006(thats when I started playing).

Crucifier Navy isn't too bad if you completely ignore the TD bonus. Double web fit it and slap beams on it, does more dps than a rail comet or an arty firetail with double webs for epic range control and a solid tank.

Griffin Navy is kinda **** though, but similarly if you ignore the ECM bonus and go with a shotgun style fit, double webs max dps, you can push like 350 and try to melt stuff but it's harder to use cause nobody wants to fight navy griffins.

Cruor on the other hand however....I have to agree with you completely. The miss matched bonus that has no synergy, the subpar fittings and speed. It's just a steaming pile of crap.

To answer the OPs question, here's a list of Amarr ships that are good for solo small gang, if you want specific fits message me in-game and I'll be happy to help

Executioner, Tormentor, Slicer, Coercer, Dragoon, Pontifex, Confessor, Vengeance, Malediction, Omen, Maller, Arbitrator, Omen Navy, Augoror Navy, Sacrilege, Harbinger, Navy Harbinger and Armageddon.

As you can see the list covers almost the entire lineup from frigate to Battleship except for a few select ships that aren't in the list not because they're bad but primarily because they don't suit solo/small gang well. Some require drone or missile skills however a large majority of the ships are laser fit so I'd suggest getting good laser skills if you plan to stick with Amarr.

I realize your list is pretty Amarr exclusive, but the Amarr pirate ships(aside from the cruor) are really awesome too....with emphasis on the baalghorn..... that ship just screams awesome.

I only saw three flying neutralizers that had the proper fit on since the pirate ship re-balance.

Anyhow, I suggest a gunboat or drone boat. You can find both in the Amarr lineup.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Double web Crucifier is actually pretty sick, it's like a souped up Tormentor. 258 dps at 8km - not bad!

Yeah this is the fit I used, really good. Tank is pretty solid, about 6.7k EHP after all the paste in the AAR runs out, the hull buffer helps you get all your reps off. The cap is really good especially with the nos, double webs allow range control on almost everything and you have the dps and tank to go toe to toe with arty firetails. Rail comets are problematic cause they out tank you significantly but with double webs you can disengage from a rail comet quite easily.

7.5 scram range but whatever, overheat everything, 305 dps with se-603 and ss-903, armor one is still better but the surprise dps could be pretty fun
