Guess why I said "Once you are up and running, you can stay up and running for at least a few months, even years with industry.", because I do realise this. The thing is however that after making 30% profit for say a month (which is pretty much a worse-case scenario in EVE), you'll start to break-even or even making a loss on the items sitting in your hangar/sell-orders at that time, which is only a fraction of the amount of items you've sold so far. At this point, you can even wait with selling these items until the prices are back up in a couple of months/years. I personally never do that, but it is an option.
