Aaah I had to see this once on a EvE forum.

on a not totally unrelated note I thought this was kind of funny.

I was watching the film made by the documentary crew of the 9/11 attacks in NYC on one of our national networks this week.

Now picture this if you will (and I'm sure many of you have seen it) you have footage of both planes hitting the towers, bleeding people, both collapses from inside and out and EVEN THE AUDIO OF JUMPERS HITTING THE GROUND (with explanation)

and what does the network do? they put up not 1, not 2 but 3 separate warnings about strong language....

STRONG LANGUAGE?
I'm watching and listening to (as if being here as it happened wasn't bad enough) 3000 people die and get turned into dust in an instant and the primary concern is that someone says "s***"

Peoples priorities are massively ****** up these days

or I'm overly sensitive because I've been cataloging Anais Nin books for 2 days....

I am starting to think the OP maybe a CCP Alt and this thread is merely a honeypot to ban people who think that it is funny to test the functionality of the profanity filter by listing profanity in public thread. No I don't really think that.

I think there is a point to the argument that: there is a profanity filter, therefore all profanity should be filtered, therefore only people who explicitly attempt to get around the filter should draw the ire of the GMS - not regular users who input words that are not filtered.

Attempt to look like Ringo: half hearted.
Attempt to be subtly creepy: half hearted.
The combined effect: chilling.

I think CCP just got slapped through the forums.

The easiest way to tell when CCP have been slapped on the forums:
1. 1st page of the Thread is heavily populated by devs/gms.
2. The rest of the thread is subscribers laughing at them.

Who cares if the filter is broken anyway? I mean come on... the f word is probably the most frequently used word in English (excluding numbers, yes, no and hello) - hell - I know people in my country not even speaking English as a secondary language using it all the time.

Censoring it is an anachronism...

We will not be publishing a list of unacceptable words. The rule of thumb is don't use language that would not be acceptable in polite company. Our filter uses both English and foreign language words. When a word is accidentally being filtered that should not be, file a petition and we will add it to the whitelist.

know whats funny about this?

kugutsumen
