What happened to the map? Logging back in after 8 years.

Played EVE from beta 2003 to 2008. Logged in a few times in 2011 to check some of the new features back then. Logged in yesterday to see how the game has evolved, a bit overwhelming I must say however I must ask. Wha happened to the map?

The map is nothing like it was, it looks more like a 'Artist's Impression' of the EVE map rather than a practical visual presentation of important information. It's so horrible that I find it unusable. Why is that and will it change anytime soon?

that would be the Beta map, what they declared better. while I like the window, I myself have had a difficult time using it. You can set the map to Abstract and it becomes flat

or use the old map -> F10 key

Or open settings -> General settings and remove the tick from "try new map".

To OP. welcome back first of all to Eve, and yes in the time you been away a lot of changes have been made, good and not so good. The new map which is by now the default is actually much better, and if you look around in it a while it will show you all kinds of information you probably never seen before.

In my opinion the new map is much better, so give it a try and seeBig smileBig smileBig smileBig smileBig smile

I agree. It takes time to get used to it, but new map is very good.

Or did you mean the in-game map? I heard rumours that such a thing existed but never bothered to explore them.

In 2008, I believe it was "Eve 2d maps" and was only available in PDF format.( I don't think it was browser friendly then)

Either way, zappity is right. Although I have been making an attempt to use the new map, just because it's pretty.

I think the new map has more data available. But I still dislike how it is presented. It also removes the data for your current system, which I dislike.
