I've been thinking of making a forum post in MD keeping a regularly updated list of those that are either delinquent in loans or just can't be trusted with isk in general. Thoughts?

People don't often come back on the same character, you have to look out for lots of other things. Making a list of those things would be a bit creepy and for people that do come back on the same character, you'll see when you do your background check on them.

The inability to actually track the worthiness of a creditor by name is what keeps the market so...not right.

As Elizabeth indicates, noone has ever defaulted , then later come back with a new loan "under the radar".

In contrast, a few weeks ago I worked out a phone book of every single previous MD investor ranked by the number of succesful loans they had given money towards *. This would help new investors answer the question of "are these people posting they have sent money just sock puppets, or genuine players?".
It was a hell of a lot of work for moderate usability though, so I stopped half way through.

(* a bit more complex than just that in fact, since the rank is counted only for succesful loans that also had other - already ranked - investors in them).

That's not quite true. Riethe once pulled a quick few bil with a bond even after he was a very well-known scammer.

He even linked to his scammed bond in the op but the mindless readers just saw "Here's a link to my previous bond". It was quite a good demonstration of how gullible some sectors of the MD investment population used to be.

That's a project I'd be curious to see.

I'm curious as well. Perhaps we can complete this should it show promise?

fools and their isk are soon parted.

But i do like the idea of a "phonebook" of somewhat reliable lenders, but I think its up to the lender to do thier research into previous loans and bonds

What about those lenders who fritter their money away on expensive and uselessly frivolous vanity items, like clothing?
