Relic sites in wormholes

I've been doing exploration in wh's for a while. I find the most complex relic sites (those usually with the most loot), difficulty in hacking.

I have Archeology to level 5, I'm using a Stratios which has a plus 10 role bonus to virus strength and I have a prospector implant which adds another 5!

Am I crap at hacking? Or do other pilots experience the same issues. I would say I get the difficult ones successfully hacked around 33% to 50% of the time. How about everyone else?

Any advice or comments would be appreciated

t2 relic analyzer is fitted? stratios values are static probably you should hop into covops sush buzzard , helios or something like that. ofc if ur covert ops skill is at V. there are also ship rigs related to data/relic analyzer but they are improving little your virus cocherence its (small / medium / large ) emission scope sharpener rig

yes t2 relic analyzer.

Thank you, I didn't know there were rigs that help hacking. I now have +20 for relic due to a rig, shame the data and relic rigs weren't so calibration heavy.

Surely I can't lose with this.

Time will tell :)

thank you

I only have the skill to level 4, so only use the T1, but if you're talking about the nullsec ones that spawn in the wormholes I can usually get them. You just have to anticipate where the node will spawn, but that usually comes with practice. Usually just try and make your way to the corners, most times the opposite one, but take your time and try to find helpful modes or whatever along the way.

This is a signature.

It has a 25m signature.

No it's not a cosmic signature.

Probably.

Btw my corp's recruiting.

I can hack both types with level 4, no rigs, no implants and T1 with no less than a 60% success rate on average (3 of 5, 4 of 6, etc). It's all about the technique, as even rookies with the most basic assets can hack open a couple of nullsec containers. Let me reiterate: I go in wormholes sometimes in a "fun-fit" Caracal and still get at least half of the containers. x3

This is a good video I learned a bit of my hacking technique from, so it should give you a good idea of the different ways you can approach the board looking for the core or avoiding firewalls.

I wish I could better explain where and when cores and nodes pop up (i.e. when it's behind pipes and junctions, when they appear on the edge, when one point from the edge, etc) but it varies from time to time and it's something you just grow an eye for that comes second-nature through experience. If you're worried about popping too many containers, just keep trying on hisec and losec containers until you feel ready to move up. Obviously you should use the bonus rigs and mods, T2 analyzers, and the implants if you can afford. I just prefer not to get too expensive in the event I get podded. Once you get a hang of it, these items just help mitigate bad choices.

There is no cake. The spoon is a lie!

Get youself a nice cheep covops frigate put inside 1 rig for scanning strength and one rig for Archeology coherence and your success rate will increase. The rest is practice.

It sounds like you're doing everything you can to increase your strength (except maybe the slot 10 implant) so it's your technique. I have the same setup and get about a 95% success rate.

I try to get to the opposite side of the grid as quickly as possible as that seems to have the best chance of finding the target cell.

Are you using the cell numbers to help guide you to the closest useful cell? If one path comes up with a "5" I will try a different path first.

Do not click on the "unknown" cells unless you are desperate as they are usually not helpful.

Do not waste clicks trying to find a useful cell if it is not in the likely target area (unless you really need one) as you may uncover a damage cell trying to find the helpful one.

If you have a 3 cell wide path click on one edge or the other so you don't block the complete path if you find a damage cell.

If all your paths are blocked by damage cells then click on the one that is most likely to open the widest path to your target area.

Get to know the different types of damage cells - some of them you can ignore, others you have to complete before you do anything else. Also some are more worthy of using a tool on than others.

sorry to say man but you're just doin it wrong. I do null sec exploration on a Raptor (interceptor) and my success rate is about 95%. you HAVE TO follow the numbers, it's not just popping nodes 'till you find the core...

I have hacking/archeology to V and use 2x scope emission sharpener I rigs. (5% virus strength each) that's it.

here's the fit: core probe launcher II/sister probes x16, prototype cloaking device, relic analyzer II, MWD, Cargo scanner II, 3x Inertial Stabilizers II.

so if it can be done in an un-bonused ship, you should be opening them all in a stratios (specially with archeology V)

This. I have Archaeology 4 and use T2 Covops and I think I fail less than 2% of cans. Using T1 relic/data analyzer and no rigs.

Yes, I am able to clear all the cans without failing one, pretty much 8/10 times at first try. Few hints:

1) Nodes numbers got a meaning, don't just random click. Try to gradually reach for the (1) numbers, and get the goodie close to it. Or the core.

2) NEVER click on an unknown node (white) unless you have no more options.

3) I try to save the buffers, and use them on the most proficient target:

- "shield" when I need to attack a node which hits back for 30-40 damage.

- "circlet" hits three times for 20 (60 total damages) even when you click somewhere else, once you selected where to land it. Use it wisely. Is that clear? If you use a circlet on a 60-40 guard node, if you click somewhere else nodes three times, the 60-40 will explode without hitting you back.

- Instakilll those 80hp reinforcer hateful node if you can. Evev if it cost you getting down to 10hp. Before you click anything else.

4) if you uncover two ones, (1) and (1), the node(s) which link them have a goodie in. Get it!

5) if you click and you get a (3), then another node and you get a (4), don't follow that path. YOu are going away from a safe spot. You want to get a (2), then try to get a (1). If you got that, mind that the node which eventually links (2) and (1) have not the goodie, ofc.

(1)
(?) <--- goodie or Core here
(1)

______

(1)
(?) <---goodie not here for sure
(2)

______

(2) - (3) - (4) you are going the wrong way

______

(4) - (3) - (2) you are going the right way!

______

(5) ....a five, seriously? Go look very far away from this, no need to clear around a (5) node unless it's a forced pipeline. Also, you won't have more than (5)

OMFG where the hell that Astero comes for!? ALIGN ALIGN ALIGN.

If you're not flying that ship to also run combat sites you're wasting your time.

But a Magnate, quad stab it, completely T1 fit it apart from the Analyzer and fit relic rigs.

Profit.

Minimal risk, better application.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have read them all in detail and all have been useful.

The biggest help has been that the core is in the corners and usually the opposite corner. My main problem was that I was uncovering every node and I don't do that now.

I would say that I'm at 95%+ in getting every core compared to 33% to 50%

I will stay in a Statios, I fit 5 warp core stabs and have escaped every attack on me, from cloaky tengu's, proteus and more.

I used to camp in wh sites with a stealth bomber. I would one shot a magnate so the 4 stabs didn't matter. Similar with a Buzzard, Helios and Cheetah usually don't have time to warp away so I will stay away from hacking in those ships.

Thanks again guys :)

5 stabs! Damn what’s your locking range ? 1km? Aight let me guve u some advice if your fitting that monstruosity, warp @ 100km from the relic site, burn away until you are at least 150km away from every can. Make a bookmark. Now warp back and forth to every container. This way is actually faster than displacing from one container to the next, it helps with your ****** locking range since you land right at 0. It also helps in that the ships warps out faster (albeit easier to bump) and also helps as to be less predictable since cloaked hunter won’t know what can you’re going next. GL.

Yes 5 warp core stabs!

Locking range if I know what that is, is about 14 km.

I can't be doing with your tactic coz I don't have the patience to warp everywhere even though it will make me safer. I just like to get in and out as fast as I can
