But why? What is the whole purpose of this? Other than to make yourself a target of the people you think are terrible human beings.

Good things do happen in this game. Do we really need a thread of feel good stories to get warm fuzziness though?

Yes! Why not?

I do love the idea that new Eden is predominately populated with one dymensional baddies twiddling our mustachios whilst tying the damsels to the fromt of bump macarials.

Lots of us do plenty good here but don't publicly speak or brag about it,
plenty of good done for its own sake.

I'll mention this as its no longer a thing but Feyds "kill it forward" initiative saw countless newbies and vets alike introduced to pvp,
In the case of newbies (speaking personally here now) they would frequently see themselves showered with advice , pointers and links to the various resources we use to make our lives easier.
Some even found themselves with a net profit to replace their loss.

When I do things in Eve I ask myself this one question:

Am I going to be justifying myself to others once I do X?

If the answer is 'Yes', then I won't be doing it.

This work both ways. One, I will not be doing some really reprehensive things that will result in many people raising drama and me having to explain myself. Two, I will shoot people and straight up not justifying squat.

A Minmatar warship is like a rusting Beetle with 500 horsepower Cardillac engines in the rear, armour plating bolted to chassis and a M2 Browning stuck on top.

I propose anyone who reads this thread, do something positive and selfless for another pilot in New Eden, even if only once, should the burn of decency cause scars. :)

Those who have received such an act, post your story here and pay it forward to another. I would love to see just how long it's possible for this thread to become.

I totally agree with your post and as someone who tries to improve the community and help people on a daily basis I can only support your proposal.

Obviously I will participate in it: If you are a law abiding citizens of New Eden I will double every ISK you send to me and send that amount back to you! Make sure to write "Azuiileia community improvement" as the reason of the transaction.

I think if we all just work together we can make New Eden a better place!

I've often found that throwing someone a bone results in them convo'ing me every day for weeks trying to get more bones.

On the other hand - I regularly scan down relic sites and create pouncing bookmarks in them. When a neutral rolls through doing sites, I often just sit there and watch them - wondering if they're mashing dscan or flying carefree in hostile space doing exploration. I've never ganked any of them.

I guess they don't even know it most of the time, especially when there's a station in system, but there it is, my form of being kind.

Somewhere there is a fantastic article about how EVE is not a sandbox because there is absolutely no incentive to play 'the good guy' and in fact will almost certainly be punished for it. This stems from many parts of how the game is built, from a criminal status system that has no real importance, faction standings that provide no benefits (or punishments), no mechanics that reward anti-bad-guy activities (bounties are about it), etc.

In many ways this makes EVE the harsh world you call it - and thus unique. I personally agree it would be nice to, you know, be nice...but to create such a culture or environment in EvE is nigh impossible without fundamentally altering how EvE plays. Your best bet would be pacifying hisec...but then that just limits it to one (small) area of the whole game.

The solution is, of course, unknown. Equally unknown is whether or not there is even a problem. Many here already believe EvE is exactly as it should be: a game for only the ruthless.

or the care 4 kids initiative.

yeah, some of us blow others up in game and think ourselves badass but there are people out there helping both in game and helping the players beyond the screen.

Hello there OP.

Can I reintroduce to you my special offering of hell in Eve?

Why? because you likened people being so called "Morally Questionable" in a game... to be the same in RL.

See you soon. :)

Just btw... when I kill a noob, I replace his loss with more than it was worth with an explanation why it happened and the future he can look forward to if he chooses to become a terrorist in eve.

Why wait...

Decided to make you my first... Welcome back wardec.

I even already know... one of your members has prepped a falcon for me. :) Not that it will do much good, only makes me extend wars for longer periods.

You obviously think too much of yourself.
I've been flying a falcon for weeks now. Lost one last night actually. Has nothing to do with you friend.

Look, you wardeccing us is just part of the game. I lose ships all the time.

I've been talking about things like Camp Stealing, outright scamming others and other things that are personal decisions to dishonestly take advantage of others or use game mechanics that prohibit recourse against others.

As far as the wardec, I'm sure you'll enjoy having hundreds of ships to play with. :)

Awesome...

A 7 man corp is going to send hundreds of ships against me.

How can I be this lucky. Extended the war to make sure you have the chance to send hundreds of ships against me.
