Recently switched to linux for gaming purposes because I don't have a functional copy of windows laying around. I've used linux for some web hosting and stuff before so I have a decent understanding of what im doing, but I am basically a scrub so I'd rather consult those who know before I continue googling for hours on end. I get this error info from wine when I try to select a character:

http://pastebin.com/HwwNpKJk

Seems similar to the error described in this thread, but my issue is not happening with the "launcher" per se so new thread. I did try running it as XP, per the thread, which did not work.

I went back and looked, I see that v.1.7 of wine is suggested. I am using 1.6.2. My impression is that I will have to reinstall all the things?

Actually the current stable wine is 1.8 branch with 1.9 being suggested. Oh, and 304 vidia drivers are probably about 2 years old, the current being somthing like 368 and more or less working being somewhere around 355.
Are you on debian sarge or something?

I did when I was doing my web stuff, but that has nothing to do with this installation. Just using out of the box Ubuntu, installed the default packages from the repositories, ran updates. I will definately be fixing that. Thanks.

Ubuntu provides 1.6.2 by default, and I did my install based on the instruction thread Kismeteer put up.

edit: The reason it was a weird version of driver is because I was using the open source drivers apparently. Still didnt load properly http://pastebin.com/wPXhB0hN
