That can't be right. That's a really long time for an open beta. Unless you mean beta development. If it's a playable beta for that long and available on PSN, I daresay it would hurt sales even more, as people would get sick of it before it even came out. Most PSN beta's are only available for a very limited time. Sometimes only a week.

A six month beta is indeed correct,

There are some other interviews that are more specific to saying "Six month playable beta" but im at work, so yeah. But its going to be (see underlined quote) for PSN Plus and eve subscribers first. So normal people and random players will maybe only get a month or two, not sure. But their reason for it is to make sure that on release the game is actually 100% and everyone is happy. And I cant say thats bad. If the game gets boring in 6 months of beta, then it was never meant to be. But it IS beta, so it cant be perfect to start.

Dust can run like a normal game without eve by playing in Hi-sec areas and such. Nulsec and such will be all of the awesome EVE + Dust interaction. But Dust will be able to live by itself.

Hi-sec = random battles of people just put together to grind ISK and crap
nulsec = Contract created specialty fights

And everything in between. You get the idea.

what dust will be, is a "ok" PS3 shooter that will take to long to finish, and probably release shortly before the PS4 comes out. it won't sell very well simply because PS3 shooters don't sell much compared to 360 in an already flooded market.

You do realize PS3 outshines the X-Box in many departments.. Battlefield 3 unfortunately will take away from DUST514 but that would be true for the X-Box or PS3. As far as DUST514 taking away from Battlefield 3. Not so much..

Oh so it's like a PC closed beta. That's p. cool. I don't have PSN plus because it's kind of pointless but great news for everyone subscribed to EVE. Can't wait.

The questions I'm dying to have answered at the specifics:

Will manufacturing of weapons/tanks/gear be similar to EvE with BP's?
I read somewhere about BPs, but not sure it works similar beyond that.

Will they use the same materials, or is it going to be largely PI?
Since they can be independent from Eve it will be planetary materials. Which doesnt necessarily mean PI as we know it. It's not impossible Dust will enable mining the same materials on planets that Eve players mine from asteroid belts.

Will Dust players make the stuff as well? If so, does that mean they'll be doing PI/mining?
Yes, they will make the stuff. Not sure about the 'as well ' (didn't see any explicit comment that Eve players can make the same stuff).

How will items be deliverable to Dust players? Customs offices?
Orbital Command Center will link up with a structure on the surface. Not sure this will be possible right from the start.

Will Dreads be able to bombard in Low Sec, or is this a null-sec only feature?
Dust will be null-sec (PvP) and highsec (PvE) afaik. Not sure any such direct interaction will be possible at the release.

How will matches be decided to ensure that opposing forces fight, instead of both "teams" being flooded with friends of the sov holders, to prevent tampering?
dunno

Will it be used as part of FW?
No

WHAT WILL AUR BUY? <-- it had better not be weapons/tanks/gear.... maybe paint jobs like in BFBC2, but not the weapons themselves, especially since the crap will drop on death like EvE.
Weapons/tanks/gear. But those can also be sold to other players. And those players should be able to build stuff they need themselves.

IIRC, the latest info is that it increases the victory points you get for a win, allowing you to unlock new modules/vehicles more quickly than if you didn't use them. So something loosely equivalent to xp potions, in effect. How much it increases the VP rate I have no idea. I can't see people paying for a measly 10%, though.

On the other hand it's nothing that can't be matched by poor players playing more and better; there's not even any rumours of exclusive content. If, as supposed, EVE players will pay for Dust contracts directly with AUR, then the Dust players don't even have to spend their own money on Dust's RMT. So it could be worse, I suppose.

Its been a long time since a dev blog or any new information has been released. Beta is suppose to be soon and all information about it is pretty much non existent. Can a DEV please at least say when information will be released. The game was hyped up with the release of its website and amazing integration features, but the website has just about zero information except a facebook/twitter side bar and some chronicles.

So I forgot....what was Dust 514 again, I could have swore it was a banana.

Feel free to troll train this post to no tomorrow. Hopefully it will bring in a dev to answer the question.

Information about the new upcoming game please. One-two-three kthxbai.

While we are on the topic, when will the DUST 514 forums open? I assume they'll be on evegate eventually, but since there are no logins as the game isn't live the pre-beta forums are going to be housed on the Dust 514 site I assume?

If nothing else to avoid trolling from people who have not figured out yet that DUST 514 isn't a PC title and go on a trolling forum rampage.

Hey Colonel MacArthur,

The pace of the DUST 514 dev blogs isn't what I want it to be yet, largely due to some of the key people taking their vacations this summer (myself included). We do have a blog series planned out that will run through next summer and the launch of DUST 514 and there's certainly a lot for CCP to talk about in the coming months. I've got our next blog draft right here and I'd like to see a publish for this at some point next week.

As to the beta, while there have been some brief mentions in various media interviews with our team, we haven't announced those details yet.

Question...
Do you have plans to upgrade Dust for the next Play Station console? And is a launch on this or the next Xbox in the forseeable future an impossibility (ie microsofts fault?)

Point being, the current generation of consoles seem to be in coming to an end, and given the nature of this title, I would hope thats part of the transition?

Also... Can I haz PC version? With frostbite 2 engine pretty please?

The PlayStation question - that was one of the first questions I had for the DUST team when I took the job, actually. I'm told that we will be able to bring DUST 514 forward to future versions of the PlayStation console.

And thank you Shadow for the response, I suppose its understandable that CCP employees need a vacation here and there Blink
I am patient about next summer and have no issues with that. The only big question I have is about the beta, and to be 100% sure when its going to be released and all of those delicious details that many Dust 514 fans are waiting for. But as you have said, you haven't announced any details, therefore I am not worried about missing out on the beta.

I am sure you probably already were going to in a blog or what not, but if you can, let us know if the priority beta invites are assured for PSN plus users or EVE subscribers, or....double priority...... for PSN plus & EVE subscribers?

Dust have been listed as a confirmed title for the PS Vita.
Will the PS Vita version be the full game as in I only need a PS Vita to play it or will it be just a support app for the PS3 version?

The reason I am asking is that I have no interest what so ever in getting a PS3 but I have been considering the Vita independent of Dust. If I can play Dust on it then well that's a major plus.
