Tried all sorts of wine setups, either through POL or my system wine, always with vcrun2013 installed through winetricks and the wine bottle in question set to behave like windows XP. And yes, I always explicitly disabled d3d11.

I still have the old launcher on the side (which is perfectly functional), so there is no immediate problem for me. But if I can't get the new one to work before the old one goes out of support, I won't be able to update my EVE install anymore. And that means I won't be playing anymore, either.

I'm on OpenSUSE Leap, kernel version 4.1.15-8-default, with wine 1.9.5 installed through my package manager.

(Shame, EVE and wine themselves cooperate pretty flawlessly. Perhaps it could be possible for someone (CCP or otherwise) to design at least a native launcher that simply uses wine in the background? Sure, it wouldn't be true native, but it might at least make for a stable and usable launcher.)

This worked for me too, but will only be a temporary fix if the sign in method through EVE itself is eventually scuttled... (as rumours have suggested it will be)
Already we must use the launcher to update the game client. (Which was a shock for me when I returned from a long hiatus.) If we also end up having to use a launcher to sign in through an as of yet unreliable launcher, that would be a real bummer.

works without any cmdline options here. only "manual" thing i do is having libraries override for msvcr120 (native, builtin)

openSUSE Tumbleweed, wine 1.9.2

On Ubuntu 15.10 with wine 1.9.5 my launcher crashes 2 out of 3 attempts (sometimes more) but if I keep launching, it will eventually work just fine, it's just inconvenient.

After today's update launcher (non-native version) falls back to server list mode again if the windows version is set to win7.

Setting windows version to XP makes it work.

Non-native launcher here, and it still shows as set to run as winXP.... and it doesnt work still.

The launcher used to at least load up and when bringing the server list it would show the client status and such, and then I would be able to launch the game.

Oddly, I was able to eventually play earlier today, after awhile the launcher recognized the internet and verified the client and I was able to connect and play.

But right now is not working, client status cannot be verified and thus I cant log in.

What are you guys setting to winxp? I have the evelauncher.eve set for WinXP, but no joy.

I just noticed that the non-native launcher is able to do the client checking/verifying if you go to the SharedCache option beforehand. I went do the server list as I normally do, before going to SharedCache and it wouldnt do the update today June 7th, but after I went to the Shared Cache option, going back to server list made it verify and install updates.

Interestingly enough, I just tried using windows 7 as default setting for Wine today after updating to latest -staging (1.9.12). Instead of crashing this time I got a text based launcher with which I was able to launch client. _An exception occurred while creating web GUI - falling back to server list view_ Is this a hidden Snorlax debug tool? I realize I should be trying out the native launcher, but have a really crappy data cap. Besides I have been "rolling my own" since before EVE had its brief official support.
