EFT and EveHQ I've not had problems with. I usually use the second mirror to download not the first but I've not had issues.

However yes there are a few webpages that you can use. I believe that you will have to give them an API so you might want to be careful to make an API with only character skill info and nothing else.

I don't use the webpage based fitting tools so you might want to try googling it.

Osmium works for browser based, but you can also run eft or pyfa off a flash drive. The EFT interface is semi professional looking so if you don't close the window in time you still stand a chance of not getting fired. Big smile

not sure if this helps or not but EFT does not actually "install" anything. It unzips into a folder and runs from the folder. So you can have it on a thumb drive for example and use the program without ever installing anything. I believe that it requires you to have the dot net framework or something like that ( I don't fully recall it's been a long while since I first used it ) but I think most work PCs would have what you need to run it.

I use o.smium.org as well but it has some drawbacks to it.

The recent changes to all the fitting systems with the last major patch has it behind on how to actually build a ship that is current so realize that it's only a good guess.

Be very careful of the skill settings. You only have a choice between No Skill and All Skill at 5 (V). So take the statistics generated with a grain of salt. You might not actually be able to fly that monster awesome ship you just built!, or it might not actually be able to mount all those things on it because your CPU, or power grid skills aren't up to the task of running it.

I do like the browse function, it's great when it works well.

You can connect o.smium.org to your eve account too, which lets you test fits with your skills.

I have it linked but didn't know it would import current skill set, that would really help and invalidate a bit of my post...

Cool, learn something awesome every day! Thanks!

There are programs for smart phones and tablets that keep all of your activities off your employers computers EvE Droid is just one of them.

Because I manage a business and this is a never ending problem please allow me the soap box to post a message on this, no response is needed or expected to this and I trust that all who read it will act appropriately to their specific situation.

Computers at work are the property of the company (unless you bought it) and using them for personal projects / internet access can and has led to people losing jobs.

The same goes for your time, while you are at work and collecting a pay check your time belongs to the company paying your salary / wages and using that time for personal projects or games can and has led to people being fired as well. Be smart, talk to your supervisor or be very careful to hide your activities even EvE is not worth losing your job over.

Yes folks I am aware that some employers do not care what you do when you have free time with nothing to do for the company. There are others that would be fine with studying for a class or simply reading a book but using the computers is off limits.
Be smart, be careful and best to ask questions first.

Off the soap box and a thanks for letting me vent, I recently lost several valuable members of my team over this issue because they refused to do what the man who signs the paychecks wanted. No I did not turn them in, they were careless and stupid and simply got caught by the boss not once but one several occasions over a period of time please do not be one of these.

I've run Pyfa (Python Fitting Assistant) in a Linux virtualbox with networking disabled for the VM.

http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Guide_to_using_PYFA

Using a virtual machine with networking disabled is great when you are paranoid. You can even trash the VM and start a new one easily. I've also got WIndows 10 in a VM as the ISO for that is free from Microsoft.

One could even keep the VM on a USB key, and take it wherever you go.
