Can't install EVE

Hey all! I'm having some issues installing the game.

I have downloaded EveLauncher-1018996.exe and attempted to install this. Whenever I try, I receive a message stating "there is no disk in the drive, please insert a disk into drive G"

At first I thought this might be a corrupt or faulty download, so I tried downloading it a second time only to meet the same issue.

I have tried running as admin, and also turning off my antivirus and firewall.

Nothing has helped.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might be able to fix this?

I've also put in a support ticket, but response time frames are an unknown to me. Some companies take 20 mins, some take a day, others take weeks.

What type of drive is "G" ?
Maybe it is confusing the downloader which is trying to present you with a list of installation locations?
Also have you tried to insert a disk/memory card in "G" ? - Just to make the installer happy ;)

SD/mini-MMC/RS(G:)

I don't have any SD cards to insert into the slot, but that's kind of a messed up thing to happen.

EDIT: If that were how the installer were programmed, I'd be kind of disappointed with EVE's developer team.

Well i am guessing here but knowing CCP ... ;)

The new downloader/installer is written in QT, might not be something CCP has a direct influence on but rather a problem of that "framework".
If its an USB device, try to detach it, if its internal you may disable it in the system configuration for the installation time. I think even though it is internal, it will be connected through USB.
But i agree its kinda strange that you can't install a program if you have an mmc card reader connected to your system Lol

I'll give that a shot and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the idea.

EDIT: The option to disable the drive cannot be clicked. Seems I can't disable this drive.

Been a while since I installed this game, but as I recall, you have the option of a custom install. Meaning you can select the location to download it to.

So set it to download to whatever drive you have the space for it on and then move it to the place you want from there. Not an ideal solution, but a solution nonetheless.

If I could get that far into the installation, then it would be a no-brainer. This error message pops up, first thing after I attempt to launch the installer.

If I'm misunderstanding you, then please inform. I'm willing to try just about anything at this point.

My apologies. I quickly skimmed for a relevant forum, but didn't see one. Guess I didn't look hard enough.

A few thoughts:

If you're willing to go for a completely fresh install, you can navigate to C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\ and delete the CCP folder. (Remember to replace (username) with the name of your Windows account). Then try running the same downloaded .exe file again. I have confirmed that as of today you're running the latest launcher version.

If that doesn't help resolve the situation, I would also consider posting about your problem in the Eve Launcher forum, because the launcher developers are very active there.

That looks like an even more appropriate place for this thread, I'll move it there.

It must have been my last PC that had EVE installed. I have no CCP folder in Local under AppData. So, this can't be the issue. I'll make a post on that forum as per your suggestion.

Well, I posted the new thread before I saw this message...but frankly the other one is more succinct and has more information straight away. Thanks though.

To prevent confusion I'll close this thread and the conversation can continue in your new thread.
