In a probably too optimistic thread, I wanted to pick your brains on what you would want to be included in a presentation on wormhole space at FF this year.

I got a time slot to present on wormhole space, so in an attempt to break up the pile of nullsec guys talking about Sov, I figured id go try and tell the k space dwellers about our weird little world.

To this day it amazes me how many eve players that I talk to that have no idea about wormholes. The whos, metas, how they work, etc so I aim to try and fill in their gaps for those that actually attend/watch.

I was thinking of a quick overview of the mechanical differences that make WHs unique, then going a bit deeper into how they actually change the gameplay.

After some of that, possibly a history lesson, of Wh space through the years, watching empires rise and fall, metas change, and faces appear and fade. Attempting to cover apocrypha to now, with a heavier focus on more recent events.

I have no intention of it focusing on any one group, or going in too depth on them, just talking about who the players are or have been throughout WH history.

Thoughts? Is there a topic or item you think should be talked about?

P.S. Ill be looking to reach out and get info from people that know more about events I wasnt a part of, so feel free to let me know if you have something to contribute.

Some people like numbers. Might be interesting to do a bit of data mining. Biggest w-space battles in the past year (compared to some of the null-sec ones). Corporations involved in those fights, user numbers, etc. I think some people might be surprised at how some of the larger wspace fights (over nothing really) rival even some of the largest null-sec fights in terms of raw ISK.

what specifically? I can mention that it was a really important part of cap brawls, and its shaken things up with its removal, but idk what else to say on it

One thing you could talk about is one of the things I love the most about WH space. The submarine type warfar that is PvP in WH space.

No local makes PvP in WH sapce a totaly diffrent game them K space. Having to physicaly cheeck routes to see if people are setting up traps and even then not knowing if there is a sea of tengus waiting to decloak 5 k off.

Anyway I will not go to far into it but that aspect of WH space i think is worth talking about.

this is really **** for FF but the first thing that came to my mind was the "white whale". How wspace had this "raid boss" that nobody could kill and how in every fight it showed up in, you would die to it. Then finally it gets killed by SSC and they disband shortly after... oohoohohohohohoh spoooookkkkyyyyyy. the cuuurrrssseee of the whiiiitteee whaaallleeee. ooooohohohohoooooo

the fact that CCP is about to destroy cloaking hunting in wormhole space and a significant amount of wh pvp with the citadel expansion.

- no longer will ships be dscanable in force fields (which is a key indicator for a scout that their might be players online in the system and warrants further investigation rather than just moving on to next wh)

- watch list gone.

- probably have to combat scan a citadel even to get on grid with it.

stealth is dead. lets bring local to wh space. Roll

Why dont you talk about that...

Just to clarify

1) Yes. True. There will, however, be an indicator on the in space bracket of the Citadel indicating how many people logged on inside.
2) ...
3) No. Citadels you have access to are on your overview. Citadels that you do not are warpable cosmic anomalies

I have always found the human aspect of wormhole corps fascinating.

You need to be tight-knit, team oriented or else you won't be able to do much. Everything is a constant group effort, and of course 'living' so close to each other is great (and probably why most of us are here) but also dangerous as drama is just around the corner, especially because i've found, often a good fc / content creator also has a very strong personality.

Since you're leading your corp for so long now, i'm sure you've got some pretty good first hand experience on this matter, i'd love to hear a detailed talk about it Lol

To live in wormhole is to be a generalist, where K space is dedicated to specialists.

Tell them about scanning. We all need to know about scanning.

Tell them about the PI. w/h PI = null PI.
Tell them about sleepers, sigs and anoms.
Whilst the scarebears are dreaming of isk ...

... grab the pvpers with tales of haulers, miners and pve fleets.
Tell them of bubbles and battles on wormholes.
Tell them of pos perches, the future lore and soon to be obsolete.

Tell them Sov is an illusion, if you want to fight to hold territory hole; control is easier than Sov.
Tell them if they were real pirates they wouldn't hide in lo sec, they would strike fear wherever Bob sent them.
I'm a real pirate, I have positive sec.

Tell them to be brave and remind them the key to w/h life, Wormholes. Local is but a few jumps away.
Whatever they did in k space can still be done, Bob willing, but they have all of k space at their command.

Throw away the ships, fly a solar system instead.

Just don't tell them to vote for me for CSM, voting will have closed weeks beforehand Blink

Good presentations involve a few key items. First is the presenters genuine enjoyment on the topic. You have to like it for us to like it.

Secondly, energy and interest. it has to have a interest in order to be good.

Third, story. There is a reason why Ted Talks are so popular. They are based on the stories of people, and not solely on statistics and numbers.

The hard part here is that the crowd for the most part, knows of wspace, but does not know of wspace. We don't generally have the mega cap brawls, or the 1 shot 10 to 100 billion kill mails. Wspace is on part for the most part, with lowsec and faction warfare. People know it exists and its there.. but really don't know what happens, why, or how.

I couldn't tell you the first thing about faction warfare besides the random headline of "this faction won!!!". How, why, what was involved, what happened, and when... no clue. Couldn't even tell you how the hell to capture a ... faction point place?

My point is, wspace isn't interesting to the masses because... they don't know why it should be interesting.

Your presentation must be story based, because we remember stories.

There were two comedians that I remember the most, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. Reason I remember them is because their comedy was based on multi layered story telling. They didn't tell you a joke, they told you a tale.

... tell the tales of Wspace.

For me Wormhole life is most atractive because of the sense of adventure, you dont know who is where, you never know who your neigbours will be the next day.

A good story is indeed a good idea.
Maybe a situation that escalated quickly, something you had a narrow escape from, an unexpected chain of events, maybe some luck(blessings of bob) .
But also some funny stuff you or a alliance mate did that escalated/had consequences.
We can give you some of thse stories but it is best to tell one you know/experianced.
But if you ask me you need something unexpected in it , twists make people remember it bether.

No local in null sec would fix everything!
