Geckos in freefall

Do you hear the sound of a bubble bursting?

Someone posted a rumor to Reddit that Geckos are dropping in new lowsec sites on SiSi now.

I have no idea of the veracity of this story (it's probably true) but holy crap the price is in freefall. I'd exited this market a long time ago so I'm just grabbing marshmallows amd watching the world burn right now.

If you lose billions in this crash, please feel free to post tears here.

Their price has been in freefall for 6 months, they peaked at 130 mil. I doubt anyone has much invested in geckos.

Edit: might just be a manipulation to buy cheap geckos. I see sell orders of around 200 geckos keep appearing and getting deleted, forcing the price down.
Can anyone link to the reddit thread please.

Btw I did get 4 geckos sold to me for 65 mil each this morning, so there's your tears :)

Looks like a well planned gecko manipulation to coincide with some new sites, cropped screenshots showing a cargo container with 1 gecko in it and some hype on reddit. Add in someone doing their best to manipulate the price of geckos down with large amounts of sell orders of 10 and 20 geckos in a staggered price range.

Lots of confirmation from different source, if it's a manipulation then it's extremely well played

The original source on Reddit was Makoto Priano who has a reputation to uphold as an unbiased explorer and breaker of news. The only realistic possibility that I see of this being wrong is that SiSi's loot table just wasn't reflective yet of what will be pushed to Tranquility.

In either case, I've liquidated the rest of my Gecko stock and am leaving this godforsaken market. That item has consistently lost me money due to the worst possible timing on getting in and out. May it burn in hell.

Not worried. Yet.

I paid 14m for mine back when I considered that exorbitant.

One of the most fun moments I had was in Apanake local when I announcedthat I was giving away free Geckos, and then proceeded to kill them one by one in front of the locals. Good times

Glad I got out of the Gecko game a long time ago, nothing but trouble those things.

Ever since they were first given away, players have been crying out for a reliable source for them because they're just so damn useful. As a result, I've always considered Geckos to be the riskiest of all limited edition assets to invest in.

I'm curious as to why geckos are still in the high 40s for something that supposively has a never ending source now.

I expect it's a limited duration event like The Crimson Harvest last October, or Operation Frostline in December, also the Geckos aren't dropping in high sec. Quafe Zero will hurt more if it becomes a staple event reward Pirate. Blood Raider Halloween, Serpentis Christmas and Guristas Easter.

Thanks, but I've been out of this market a looooong, loooooong time and was never heavily into it.

I'm too sensitive to risk to buy into a market that CCP could (and apparently have) crashed on a whim. Bubble economies based upon unpredictable supply constraints are not my thing to get into.

Bought in in a small way at 13-17m, sold out at 30-35m, no regrets.

Well, Gila blueprints have a never ending source right now and they are more than 45m too.

The decisive factor will be how much player effort goes into farming Gackos.

Even if the Gecko are seeded there is a good chance they will be over that price, imo

I ran some Gurista Research Facilites on SiSi and yes, they can drop Geckos. I ran 7-8 sites and got 4 of them.

I doubt CCP will remove them from the loot table on TQ, but you can never know for sure.

Never ending? It's a time limited event, so....
