...or you could just fly a cheaper / weaker ship? ;)

If you're too scary to fight, they're not going to lock you up to see the message in the first place.

If you want incredibly obvious bait through, fly a maller.

A complaint i often hear from small ship pilots is how often they encounter big ship pilots that are in fleet together on their roams. They are like 'wtf why do people need big clumsy ships for roaming when they can be so much more effective at catching things with less clumsy ships'

What does that have to do with anything?

People are in the habit of bringing big ships unnecessarily, even at the cost of crippling capabilities of your entire fleet. Why bring bazookas to catch fish, bring a net instead. If you ant make people stop bringing bazookas then atleast equip them with a rocket that has a net lol

Alternatively, tell the people in the big ships that they can either fit to keep up with the small stuff, or they can reship. I know Baltec1 used to have megathrons that could quite happily fly on frigate or cruiser fleets without slowing anything down, so it'd perfectly doable.

How does crippling their ship help them keep up anyway? Surely it's just make it an even worse idea to bring them along? If you want to take a battleship on a cruiser fleet, then you might as well hit like a battleship.

since when do small ships feel intimidated my bigger ones? one of the main issues with big in eve is how small ships can wreck large ones but large ones cant defend themselves against small ones

hmm i dont know, i think crippling yourself might apply more in smaller gang fleets there are usually lots of running around trying to catch the solo pvp'er that is in a smaller ship. You shift positions around until there is somewhat of a fair fight made possible for a short period until backup arrives. being able to cripple your big ship might mean less shifting around to find that fair fight moment however short it might be.

Smaller ships would essentially be welcome to stick around to shoot at a vulnerable target, which is a good thing because he is not instantly flying away in search for fair fight scenario, there is less shifting around

Hardly. If you get into a fair fight, you've both done something badly wrong.

The only guy who don't mess up in EVE is the guy taking a fight he know he will win. Taking a far one is messing up and so is taking a bad one.

This.

Flying a big ship is enough of a cripple and handicap already.

Dont most solo battleship/battlecruiser pilots fit a neut? Probably a grappler or a mjd or light drones can mess up a smaller ship too

but i know what you mean, its half the truth, the other half of the truth is that roaming in this game is a pain

Yeah there are four real fight scenarios in EVE:
1) Party A attacks Party B who don't want the fight but can't avoid it (and get slaughtered).
2) Party A and Party B both want the fight because Party B has completely screwed up and doesn't realise they have already lost.
3) Party B attacks Party A knowing they will lose but decides "Ah screw it, it's better than flying home" (often happens on random NPSI roams or from bored FW members who haven't been able to find a fight they can win for days).
4) Party A and Party B are both crazy guys in Hek in stupidly expensive ships and are dueling on the station.

If you want to hunt a bigger prey, bring ewar support, size does not matter for ewar much essentialy making smaller ships more efficient at it, if done right.
Sensor damps, wep disruption, both have scripts that can be utilized to provide extremele advantage, also jamming. It's all about the numers.
And even solo 1 v 1 AF can take on a ship if dps is high enough.
Just dont dit grappler/web and you can proably lose.

Come get some cancer @ my blog !
