Currently this Slot 7 implant provides:
Quote:
+10% Afterburner Duration

- a change which for all but a few very niche use-cases is actually a penalty

I propose that it be changed to
Quote:
-5% Afterburner Duration, -5% Afterburner Capacitor Use

- Making it as useful as training an extra level of Afterburner skill, without conceding any edge-case ludicrous-speed options. Not a hugely powerful bonus, of course, but at least one which is actually of some use to someone.

Supported.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Isn't a +10% Afterburner Duration basically a -10% Afterburner Capacitor Consumption? Ugh
I wouldn't call that a penalty.

It's what the original iteration of the afterburner skill did. At first it seems like it's useful, but actually when you look at the reason someone would use an afterburner (better agility than an MWD, less cap use than an MWD) it's not great. Which is the reason that the afterburner skill was changed to what it does now.

So my proposal actually restores the implant to its original status: +1 skill level* in the Afterburner skill

*Because of maths, it's actually not quite as good as being able to train Afterburner VI, but eh, close enough.

I will miss refining them for 3,000 Isk in minerals.

Also in 13 years of run time that Damsel level 4 mission has been run "A LOT"

It be almost like having many billion items suddenly have a value / use beyond refine.

How about the existing ZCNL become collectors relics and the mission drops a (new) version.

Just in case its a grubby market get rich plan.

It is a grubby market get rich plan, but that's okay.

Who doesn't have a stash of these? It's ok for there to be a ready supply of cheap somewhere useful hardwires accessible to newbies. No one is going to get filthy rich off this.

Fully supported. It will never be a fantastic hardwire, but it would at least have some benefit (dual prop, warping). It's total garbage now.

Make it 7.5% so that people using ABs to get into warp quickly can squeeze under the server-tick wall of seven seconds.

Honestly, I think that would make it too strong, especially since they're likely to be very cheap (comparable to a normal 1% hardwiring) for the forseeable future.

What I'm aiming for with this proposal is to make a minor, common but quirky and nostalgic NPC drop into something that's a somewhat useful, not mandatory by returning it to it's original function.

Surely, you would want a -10% to -15% capacitor use, at the least, as the -5% for afterburner duration, increases cap use?

While for PVP the implant is useless at present, for PVE players, with less than V in capacitor and high navigation skills it is a godsend!

It is only Cheap due to availability, and lack of exposure, If players actually realised how useful it is, It would be far more expensive.

People pay fortunes, for fittings to duplicate it's effects where this implant is almost free.

The -5% cap use exactly balances the extra demand from the -5% afterburner duration.
