Here are the musts:
- Fluency in English
- Ability to relocate to Reykjavik, Atlanta, or Shanghai
- Must fit in with the culture at CCP and the customer support department
- Must be able to work days, evenings, nights and weekends
- Must be able to work methodically and with attention to detail

Highly desirable (and we really do not hire people that do not have at least some of these qualities):
- Previous customer support experience
- Very experienced player within EVE Online (for game related support)
- Experience in dealing with confidential and private information (especially for billing/account support)
- Experience in technical support and a deep knowledge of hardware/software (for technical support)
- Fluency in either German, Russian or Japanese
- Experience working in the games industry, especially for other MMOs

Our open positions can be found here: http://www.ccpgames.com/en/jobs?

At the moment we have no open positions for game masters, but we do tend to hire new game masters regularly.

Strangly, I am quilified for this job, with plenty of previous experiance and knowledge..

Just a shame the GF wont move :(
Maybe if I talk to her nicely, I hear Atlanta is nice this time of year :P

so does this include saying "our logs show nothing" and glossing over petitions that then end up having to be escalated at customer's request to a senior gm in order to get the petition actually read correctly?

Now. I can pee in a bottle. I've done that before. All that other stuff I can learn on the job, right?

According to a friend whom received a warning from a GM, killing a noob player in low sec is against the rules, so I assume this 'in depth knowledge' of the game involves knowing how to undock and operate a stargate Roll

but only on NeX store items. Not in game bugs other than ones that affect the CQ

I did. It was cool, until you began to see all the stupid things players did and the infractions they get against themselves. Couldn't believe a lot of it.

Here you have a guy that exploited a few times, griefed even more times (which was against AOs rules) and had a tendency to verbally harass people. You get a petition from him and you have to pretend you don't know any of these things and act as if you really care about his issue.

I was in ARK for a good year, and it was fun at times (especially the greetings, as you mentioned), but it also sucked. There were quite a few people who would lie about something just to get a freebie - and then get all kinds of bent out of shape because I said "no" as part of a script I had to do.

It was kinda sad, actually.

Of course, then Funcom basically broke AO when they tried to add another game on (Shadowlands), and it just went downhill from there.

They are F2P, but only for Notum Wars. You can upgrade to Shadowlands for 5 bucks a month or go all out and pay 15 bucks a month for the entire game.

They've added a whole slew of expansions, addons, an MT store, a few new systems and areas, but, as was mentioned, they're still working on the new engine and apparently have a very small team working on it. Doesn't help that the population is much tinier than it used to be.

This is a bit offtopic for this thread but meh..

AO was/is a pretty cool game and it was sad to see the game decline.
I left once it was clear they had almost no devs still working on it, in favor of AOC.

One thing AO had that was very cool was the ability to set up those corp chatbots.
At one point I was all caught up in that and forgot to play, I had a few of the corp bots and were working on finishing a helpbot.

Fun times. Smile (Never made it past level 90 ish on any char.)

I bet it was you that got me killed once on noob island, when you suddenly appeared infront of me with a "Greetings!". Lol

lol! The greetings were the fun part. Most of the time, people were just happy to have someone to talk to that knew what they were doing.

I was quickly ostracised.

Chaotic Neutral does not work well in Lawful "Good" environment.

I have helped far more people as a president of an org that I would ever have done as an ARK.
First off, I can tell them specific things about how to play better, not just general guide lines.
I can link people to various third party sites.
I can give them items and credits to get along their way.
I can be a friend and a contact.
I can let them join a group want to support them further (one of our main goals)

So forth and so on. ARK was pretty hollow with a lot of rules and a lot of brown nosing. Half the people there were there for the wrong reasons. The only time that they are needed is for technical issues. Even things like harassment and other social issues can usually be dealt with by the players if they really wanted to do that.
As a programmer, I probably would have dealt with those technical issues a whole lot better than constantly escalating them to the overworked staff.

Clearly, you need iron skin... and an ability to forgive dumbasses for their histrionics...

I had neither the last time I decided to GM.. ended up getting run out of a fairly nice game by a player who targeted me specifically... Just learn to roll with it. =)

Good Luck.
