Why does my targets hang on my screen flashing for 5 seconds after being destroyed?

Do you really think this is a significant event that I need this sh1t flashing for 5 seconds at me?

WTF, if you don't have anything useful to offer the game, this is the trash we get.

Yea, could be 4 seconds.

Must be for the F1 monkeys in goons I take it. Suppose the brain dead would need to be alerted of a ship that isn't there anymore.

I actually like the flashy death thingie! The gong had to go though, it was horrible when doing anomalies. Gong gong gong GOOONG!!! gonggongongongongongongongongongongongongongongongongongongongong gong gong GONG!!! It was kind of soothing, and at the same time infuriating to the point of homicidal rage.

Surely it's common knowledge that CCP policy is to fix one thing and break a thousand when they release patches. It's a sneaky ploy to make sure their Devs always have work to get on with.

This post brought to you by CCP's alpha forum alt initiative. Playing the eve forums has never come cheaper.

Actually it's about 1-1.5 seconds. That said I know a lot of ppl do feel that it's still a little too slow and claim that it slows them down in acquiring targets but personally I haven't seen any noticeable change when moving from one target to the next.

Edit: Editing a video frame by frame you can see that it lasts almost precisely 2 seconds. From the time it begins to the time it's completely disappeared.

Edit 2: Got me interested in just how much it actually changes from the old graphics so I did some frame by frame comparisons. The old simple flash graphic last very close to 2 seconds from the time the target icon started to fade out to the time it was completely gone. Very comparable to the 2 seconds taken for the new effect. Also in both cases, if multiple ships were targeted the active target shifted to the next target in the list the exact moment the animation began. So even if the new animation is a fraction of a second longer, it still has no effect on time taken to shift targets. Basically it's all in your head likely just because the new effect is so much more noticeable.

It seems a lot longer when your waiting for your display to update in a game that already has poor client / server response times.

It just makes it worse.

Seems being the keyword. I think we'll all adjust to it over time.

Yea, cause we need to adjust to sh1t programming that makes game play worse.

Wonder why sub's are declining? Stargates spinning around when you jump, useless wormhole animation, uncloak animations. Yea, that's very entertaining (sarcasm in case you didn't see it).

Skill injection desperation? Drain what money you can while you can I guess. Fuk up what you can in the mean time.

Probably so the noobs know the target is destroyed and didn't jump or warp.

Pretty silly thing to get upset about to be honest.

It's people like YOU who seem to INSIST upon facts and rationale amid a perfectly excitable and potentially riotous diatribe! I'm really getting tired of you people who explain things in such a way it takes the WIND out of my very
puffed-up keyboard RESPONSE!!
