Isn't the former the important one when you're on rocks?

They're equivalent I think, either you have moar ore in one cycle, or your cycles are shorter.

In the name of Jirai 'Fatal' Laitanen : “Some capsuleers claim that ECM is 'dishonorable' and 'unfair'. Jam those ones first, and kill them last.”

But a second is a second regardless of the cycle length.

Cycle time is important when you have only minimal ore left in a roid, lets say 400 m3 Veldspar (check with Survey scanner), now you can short cycle your mining lasers to exactly get the amount of ore out of the roid and must not run the full cycle.

"yield per second" vs "cycle time"....
Doesn't Yield per second include some function of Cycle Time, or did you mean Yield per Cycle?

Yield per Second = Yield per cycle / Cycle Time
(or something like that, brain fried atm)

You can click your cycle off early regardless of how long the cycle time is though, so this isn't really relevant to what the OP was asking.

Yes for rocks and everything else too, seeing as yield per time is the ultimate expression of how much you mine. Like, a skiff's strip will have a faster cycle time on ice than a hulk's strips will... but since the hulk has 3 strips it still gets more ice per time. I guess people just talk about cycle time because they're too lazy to figure out what their yield per second/minute/hour/whatever is?

I hate these types of miners that worry about wasting a little bit of extra time because they don't want to waste a cycle and completely kill an asteroid

and yes I do mining too, its maddening to settle into an asteroid belt full of large asteroids for every rock to not even last a cycle

"im here watching a movie and have time to waste but I cant dare waste 30 seconds on waiting my cycle to finish to kill a roid"

Nullsec is a miner's heaven, imo. Even in a small anom spawned by the cheapest ore prospecting array you get most rocks with 50k+ m3 in them, and the spod and gneiss ones are several times that big. And in the larger anoms the rocks just get bigger and bigger... like 250k m3 of arkonor and bistot per asteroid and over a million m3 in the spod rocks.

I'll never be able to set up my miners in highsec asteroid belts again after being spoiled in null. It's pretty maddening to "asteroid is depleted" every 30 seconds when you're boxing a few good miners.

oh ive been to null, every group is CTA all miners get in frigates or you get kicked out, then you spend 15 hours for a fight that never comes, or your not allowed to undock because of a cloaked neutral in system, ive also been in WH groups that your not allowed to do anything with out an alt on every hole in or you get kicked

I'm sure you've heard this before, but it sounds like you just weren't in the right corp/alliance/coalition.

Even with those issues though, I'd take null over high in a heartbeat... though WH life as a miner always seemed to have more cons than pros unless you just mine on the side and are primarily after the "WH lifestyle" in general.
