Hey, friends.

Super quick. We heard your on the new sound effect introduced in yesterday's patch and we're disabling it as of tomorrow's downtime while we take a second look at it's purpose and design.

Thanks for the feedback. And for anyone who really likes the new effect - you have until tomorrow to record it.

ALLELUIA !!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, CCP Guard.

But please, do not do that again, please.

Suggestion: why not have an array of sounds for different ship classes and owners, and start a player competition to provide them? We'll do the work, EVE gets more depth and you can have a good laugh at the troll entries.

How about customizable via substitution of a sound file in a folder or something.

Can't think of any sounds that I could put in that wouldn't drive me insane but sounds great.

NO NO NO NO....

All we need is a GONG option in the Advanced audio settings so people can tern it down independley of the other stuff.

On the topic of the kill animation, the flashing of it is bad.

Why not just flash up the X overlay once and fade away both it and the locked target, could be done in half a second and make it seem smoother.

As much as I appreciate the "gong going gone", that is a valid statement.

You have the power at your fingertips to change the system to be more than "either / or". You might even grab different sound effects for the player to CHOOSE from, other than "none". That single 12'o'clock bell that strikes high noon when a wild-west shootout happens and John Wayne wins again? Ding of death, go for it. The gong that is played when a player gets reprocessed? Go for it. Digital distortion effect that fades out, signalizing how the ship discharged on your sensors into bits and pieces? Go for it.

Do you see the pattern? The pattern is that we crave for OPTIONS.
We crave for ADDITIONAL possibilities, not removal and replacement.

Same with the tab key. If you can remove the gong within a day's worth of downtime, you have to do the same with the tab key as well. Bring it back as customizeable key bind, instead of your bludgeoning of previous options.

Do more options require more work? Yes they do.
Are more options making more people happy because they can choose what their preference will be? Yes they do.
Is there development time available for those? I'm inclined to say "yes there is" without even knowing, because considering all the time you wasted to bring half-hearted attempts of content which nobody ever desired or needed, then there is PLENTY of time freed up.

Oh and speaking of options; you STILL did not bring contrast-inverted colour schemes to Eve, even though you completely changed the skin-styles. We still don't have black text on light background. And we still don't have a more prominent shadow on text that sits directly on the skybox, which then becomes hard to read with increased lighting.

Hi CCP Guard.

I think the feature has merits. If we where allowed to customize which ships tiers, or hulls/structures, that trigger the "gong". Then we could decide when it's useful for ourselves. Idea Also if the sound was centered it would be less annoying for people using headsets.

As for the animation that came with it, if it could be just a little bit snappier, it too would be less annoying.

This.

The animation X thing is taking way to long to do it's thing. Suggesting either speed it up so it takes just as long as the old target demolished animation and not a single microsecond longer, or a return to the old target splatted graphics. It's out of sync, gets more off kilter as the rat nest cleaning goes on, and is causing me some problems with clicking empty space instead of the next target I wanna whomp. My adopted drones are getting confused on targets dead but still have their name in the way.

However....

Thank you in advance, for the removal of that damned gong tone. It doesn't have (to me) a single reference to any sci-fi, space, future, or dystopian theme I can think of. Of all things it reminded me of some sound effect from the older entries of the Castlevania franchise. It didn't help the volume on it was defaulted to way too loud. Very immersion breaking, pleased it's going away.

Your new animation cycles way to long and leaves a blank space with the text of the item on screen for longer then the icon itself.

Just FYI. Needs to be sync'd

It requires more work than disabling it. Maybe we'll do that later but, I don't know, but the best solution right now is to disable it while we look at it.

The idea has merit. A titan exploding could have a big sound like the bell, because it is a relatively rare event. The same could be said for any supercapital.

For smaller ships, and particularly smaller NPC ships, the sound should be spare to non-existent. Perhaps to try one you could set up a pipebombing fleet and warp another fleet of frigates into it. If the result does not make you run for the nearest window, run The Blockade, or some other dungeon with many NPCs, then salvage it with an MTU and a Noctis with a full rack of Salvager IIs. If that does not make you run for the nearest window, then perhaps you have something.

It would seem best if it communicated information: was the ship a titan or supercapital? was the ship volleyed within a single tick? by a single ship, by the whole squad, the whole wing or the whole fleet? (Perhaps those could be adjustable percentages, as the shield and armor and hull alarms are.)

Those are merely a few possibilities. It seems to me to be an opportunity to reward efficacious participation in combat.
