Re: sig tanking: With Halos and fleet boosts, and a little X-Instinct, you can get the phoons sig down to 156m. At that size you're seeing real damage reductions, especially from a fleet BS's deadliest enemy, bombs.

Tempest FI is round 176m with same effects. So a 20m difference. Now turn on the MWD to get any kind of speed, and you're still between 800-900m.

When fighting medium guns, you're still well over the sig resolution of medium turrets. Last i checked, most fights are happening with T3's and ships that use medium guns (canes, ferox etc). Yea mach's and rattles are used on occasion as well, so i guess you could say it would be useful there, but that brings me to my next point.

You mean to tell me everyone in your fleet has HG Halo's (in null) so that bombing runs against their typhoon FI's aren't as strong? Yet I do not see any doctrines that use the typhoon FI in gun configuration in a fleet settings. There is a reason for this.

Most bombing gangs aren't going to bomb a solo BS (not to say it doesn't happen, but is rare). So you're implying that a fleet of typhoon FI's is good, when everyone in the fleet is using HG Halo's, links and everyone pops strong x-instinct. Yet, for that all to work, especially in a fleet setting, you want range which requires artillery. Typhoon FI can't fit it without gimping the tank. If you go brawling in the fit, then you drop down to a/c's which don't do any more damage than tempest FI, but the pest FI can build a stronger tank to brawl with, still has 2 neuts, and drone bay is moot when we're talking brawling fleet settings because of smartbombs.

Again, the little things that people tout about the typhoon FI as a reason to keep it with its gun bonus doesn't fix the fact that when you put guns on a typhoon FI, you could do the same thing with a pest or pest FI and get better results doing.

The bonus is not useful to the hull, and keeping it because of the imagination of "versatility" is short sighted when it doesn't make it more versatile. It makes a ship with 1 useful bonus. The other is an afterthought, or a gimmick for max dps fits.

I don't see a big issue with the Typhoon, it has great maneuverability, for a Battleship. Not to mention it can probably do around 1,000 DPS with the right fit.

Don't explain your philosophy. Embody it.
