I quit college for a reason. That sh!t's hella boring.

okay i looked at it.. i read the tutorial TWICE.. okay and still i failed 8 of the 10 tutorials classes..

what do i look for..
what do i do..
do i just match the colours to the colours on the screen..
if its look for this kind of picture in a picture its not very helpfull.

where are the newbie to biology instructions and is this like most of eve? where i have to blow up ships to learn how to do cell research biology?

i didnt take microcelluar biology in secondary school and i didnt go to collage..

You are matching characteristics found in the image to the left, with characteristics found in the examples provided to the right. Read the text descriptions for each example, and take your time at first until you get a feel for it.

If you can't understand something as simple as this, they probably don't want you taking part anyway.

I've also been frustrated with the results from the unknown samples. There have been several instances today where over 75% of users selected "negative" for images covered in green staining, so I'm not sure what's going on.

I've also found that most users seem to be choosing cytoplasm or nucleus for the majority of images, even if subtler structures are present.

I think we'll have to see how the peer accuracy comparisons work once the user base sheds the people in it for the novelty, but at the moment I'm a bit worried.

I think its sometimes easier to say what it IS CERTAINLY NOT than to say what it IS PRECISELY.... But we only have the option to try to tick what it can be but not to mark what we are sure it is not!

Let's look at an example... (yes, click "example")

On the left side we have the image itself, at the top with all 3 colors visible, at the bottom with blue filtered out.
On the right side we have my answer (nucleoplasma) and the already accepted answer (nuclear specles).

Either I'm terribly wrong... or the majority of voters are.
If I'm wrong I would very much like to hear why.

And it's not the only one... I take 2 to 5 minutes on each picture, checking and rechecking the possible options and refining my choice trying to be certain.... and as a result, my accuracy rating dropped to 47.3%... and it''s still dropping.

Also the payout is laughable. Mining I get500k isk every 3 minutes semi afk. Here I get 50k for burning a lot of attention in the same timespan. As it stands, it's simply not worth the bother. The only incentive to join project discovery at this point, is wanting to help with actual real world research.

What I would like to see is a thread (or even a subforum section) where truly interested players can post pics and ask for clarification to better understand the differences and be able to give better results in the future. And answers should be given only by real researchers (who are behind this), or community members who are marked as knowledgeable by said researchers. but I guess that's just a dream.

I had feeling that something like this will happen.

Having seen few samples, I am surprised how you can get one kind of specles outside red and blue structures and another green structures inside blue structures, simultanously!!! What is happening with some of these cells?

I'm all up for griefing, corp theft, scamming, awoxing, any other form to ruin someone's game, but (to attempt) to ruin something with real world importance makes me sick.

Luckily a simple solution exists. A timer. Nobody cracks the image under 10 seconds.
