Question about disconnects in combat

Hello there. Last weekend I was involved in a low sec PVP engagement and lost connection due to a faulty modem only now since replaced. No complaint about the loss of a Hurricane and I did get a kill just before, funny thing it was one of the people who got me. Pirate

The event went something like this: I'm sitting at a belt fiddling with dscan which I've yet to master, then 2 ships warp in. A drake yellowboxed me but had not completed a lock by the time my client closed. Not sure what the other ship was as it happened so fast I didn't have time to do anything. I couldn't reconnect until a couple minutes later and by then my little Cane was gone and I was in an egg. Modem died utterly right afterwards. Sad

Question is: how does a ship behave in this situation? I realize active mods turn off but does the pilot's SP still apply? I'm also a bit confused about log offs while aggressed. As far as I could see not a shot had been fired by anyone before I lost connection. I was kind of wondering why my ship didn't log off with me. I was very disappointed I could't see what happened because in the first encounter I sent these two people on the run however they were in stealth bombers the first time. I'm not too clear on the log off mechanics and PVP is not something I have much experience with other than suicide ganking :karma: a few hulks and tiredly and apatheticaly dealing with war targets while drunk.... didn't go so well. Pirate

Yeeee!

It sounds like your ship did not finish aligning for its E-warp before you were tackled by your aggressors. In this case, you would have stayed in space long enough for them to kill you.

Also, I am pretty sure all pilot skills still apply to a logged off pilot's ship, however any active mod will turn off.

pretty much

you got tagged when you were still aligning.
However once you pick up agro even if you do manage to ewarp you get a lovely 15 minute timer for them to probe you down and pop your ship.

otherwise when you ewarp without agro they still get 2 minutes to probe you down and kill you

but more than likely you dropped and they pointed you while aligning and thats all she wrote

We had a carrier log off the other day when we tackled it with our frig fleet. Was a chimera and im pretty sure when he logged off his shield booster was still running till the ship ran out of cap.

It was before crucible so it was very close but we got him.
