Have you tried reinstalling the new launcher? (it left Beta in December by the way).

Tried it and it works. You have to install the launcher in a separate folder from the Eve Online game files, just make a new folder called Eve Launcher or something like that and it all goes back to normal and everything is still there.

as a note .. your settings should be still stored in your computer .. just might need some tweaking to acsess em ..

That's just bandaid and not fix. You won't get access to your old settings and people probably like their settings they've set up overtime (including overview and quicktab.) CCP should fix what they broke.

first run in the new launcher should give u option to migrate settings .. if u missed that the the "eve menu" left from minimize button .. has a option for "client settings" witch opens the migrate window ..

EVElopedia < add this to your sig to show u WANT it back

The settings are still there and a re-installed launcher will pick them up.

The fix is to re-install to a clean directory, or possible to the same directory after you have deleted the launcher folder.

As I said in one of the other threads, it looks like the launcher upgrade has corrupted a DLL or two for some people. CCP cannot test for every combination of hardware/OS/software so issues will occur.

They don't appear to care, because this error is not wide spread.. its not of concern to them..Ugh

So basically prepare that at any point your EVERY setting on eve online can be deleted because CCP doesn't give a ****

Guys - stop a second and actually read the posts from the people trying to help you.

This shows a lack of understanding of support systems. Any support desk has to prioritise calls and a tech issue affecting a small number of people takes lower priority than some other things. You also have to remember that a lot of people take the attitude of "oh, it's broken, i will wait for them to fix it" and don't even bother to try and get help through the proper channels, short of complaining on a forum.

Yes CCP have a backlog of calls to deal with at the moment so responses are slow, but lucky for you there is a quick and simple fix that the player base have verified. The fix is posted in this thread and in the thread in the launcher subforum. It is a simple, quick fix. OK, it means that you have to do something but that is the way computers are sometimes.

No one is losing any settings in this instance. The new launcher imports settings from the old client and picks up on your existing settings if you reinstall the new launcher. You may need to re-apply them to each account from the launcher but they are still there.

Yes, there are many ways that you an lose your settings (needing to rebuild, PC failure, etc.) so if you really care about them you should have them backed up. It is not CCP's place to backup data stored on your machine.

Ok guys and Gals I got it working and kept my settings

rename your eve folder to eve2

Run EveLauncher-1016420

It will ask several questions about changing location DONT copy over old registry files

and it should work. did for me after hours of trials

Too bad no one from CCP had the manners to address this issue

Too bad I didn't do that and I did the original suggestion and lost everything on my eve.
CCP should really even do mentions and warnings about overwriting/losing files etc when they surely knew they broke launcher for many ppl.

When I pay - yes pay a yearly subscription in actual cash to use software then yes call me ignorant call me impatient, if I mined, missioned or what ever to purchase a ingame plex to us this software then I'd be more relaxed because these people actually don't support a software company.

CCP have a responsibility to act, I was referring to a very simple reply on the forums so your lack of understanding is equal. CCP need to fix there issues THEY caused because of lack of planning, Ive moved databases to new locations and upgraded new hardware without any issues, and yes they were complicated and very intensive databases also.

Actually what I did when prompted to use a different directory I left the screen up, renamed the directory to c:\eve2, went back to the screen and clicked next. I then renamed the directory back to c:\eve and then choose to keep my current cache and continued on.

I too have lost everything.

it started with the old launcher.. logged out one day last week. logged back on to default settings.

was instructed to install the new launcher and migrate settings...

I did this.

the settings migrated where default plus some tweaks I had made before updating to the new launcher..

ive now tried every variation of tip in here... to no avail.. and I'm afraid my settings are just gone forever.

I submitied a bug report the day of.. it was closed within minutes saying that it was in fact, not a bug..

seems by looking through here it definatly IS a bug.

I also submitted a support ticket..

my settings are the work of years of tweaking and ill not be going through that **** again..

crosses fingers that ccp fixes this asap.
