Me and a friend had a go at ganking a code scout , we used 2 catalyst setup as code would, target was a Thrasher .
Can't believe how fast i ended up in pod , must have been gate guns or faction police. Got his shields down to under 50%

We are both going to join Ozzie's gankers but thought we would try it out , so any tips would be great , we are both low skilled alts.

Did we use the right ship and setup and was its a case of numbers, although i did forget to over heat , any tips you can give us, also how do you fix your ss other than mission running i hear you can buy tags, Evil

thanks

Down size guns and add shield tank, less DPS but you will last longer to the gate guns which nets more damage, if you have two cats one full gank and one shield tanked, the one with the tank shoots first so the gate guns dont shoot at the full gank fit.

How far from your target were you? Blasters have high DPS, but extremely short optimal range though the catalysts bonus should offset this some. What were your fits? Where did you engage? What was the sec status of the system? And I don't think faction poli a shot you. They tend to only worry about those with low faction standings. Did you check your logs for any details?

If you gank near a gate or station with only few pilots, you may want to use alpha (Artillery) instead of DPS (Blasters). Unlike CONCORD, gateguns react immediately, and can potentially volley your untanked destroyer off the field, so one shot may be all you get. If you gank with a whole fleet, this doesn't matter, as they take their merry time switching targets. But if you only have two ships, gate- and stationguns do matter.

My only advice is to join a freighter fleet and have a blast
(Instead of failing non-stop daily)

You'll enjoy yourself more and as a bonus you'll meet relaxed people Cool

Edit: try both sides before going apeshiz on me, it's an honest recommendation

Find out which - can't tank what you don't know about.

And yes, "clone soldier" tags work on negative sec status. That said, the big hit's for podding; if you just shoot ships you've got a little way to go to -5.

Blasters and both of us at a range of 500m , we used the code standered fit , on the gate in a 0.8 , starting to see now what we did wrong with the info from above, it was fun trying and he placed a killright bounty of 25mill on us both Bear

If you need more ships let me know , we just need more people now, high sec is such a target rich place.

I'll finish off my ganker alt and join you next time

Keep in mind that you can downgrade by size based on target. Gank cats are used to yield maximum damage output for larger targets and are thus fitted for it. This means they may be somewhat lacking in tank (as if a cat could have less, right?)

Thus you may be able to take out a gank cat with nice cheap frigates.

All conflict is economics. If you can do it cheaper then the enemy, or get more bang (literally) for your buck and spend as much as an enemy, you can win. For that reason I would reconsider using gank cats to gank gank cats. (Ow, my brain).

I'm a bit busy this week but anybody got time with pyfa they might run some numbers and see how much it would take to drop a gank cat. Would one-shot from a pair of cheapy ghetto frigs be possible? Or is one volley too pessimistic? Can it be done with arty rifters or blaster Tristan? Perhaps a fast orbit kestrel?

I know people will say "hurrr durrr there will still be gank cats CODE always wins hurf blurf marsha marsha marsha" but if gank cats started getting hunted they would have to derive from their DPS to survive attacks. CODE might still get their freighter but seeing them forced to make changes like the pubbies they so despise makes their mortality stand out.

I use this Catalyst fit (T1 works very well) for ganking the gank-scouts (often frigates with cargoscanners and passive targeters sitting around gates near ganking hotspots). From my memory I can say that it provides enough tank to inflict a few volleys while being under gate guns DPS, especially in 0.5, 0.6 for example. Sometimes these scouts orbit the gate, in which case you need to do an accurate prediction of his movement and time your landing very precisely.

I once tried to use that fit, in an impulse, to gank a Probe scout who was scouting for a ganker at belt. The gank failed horribly because that Probe managed to get away from my Cata which of course didn't have web or scram. So yeah, only use that fit when you operate within sight of gate guns.

I will gladly join your operations when I have the occasion. Blink

Great information thxs I'll try your fit and gank in a 0.5 this time, look out ganker scout we are coming for you

If anyone wants to support our little venture but can't help with ganking, clone soldier" tags or the above ship and fitting would help no end, isk are great but not doing it for money, stuff is much better and T1 at that.
